This study focuses on morphological changes along the ~320-km-long Sindh coastline of Pakistan over past three decades. In this study, the Landsat images from 1989 to 2018 at an interval of 10 years are used to analyze the state of coastline erosion. For this purpose, well-known statistical approaches such as end point rate (EPR), least median of squares (LMS), and linear regression rate (LRR) are used to calculate the rates of coastline change. We analyze the erosion trend along with the underlying controlling variables of coastal change. Results show that most areas along the coastline have experienced noteworthy erosion during the study period. It is found that Karachi coastline experienced 2.43 0.45 m/yr of erosion and ± 8.34 0.45 m/yr of accretion, while erosion on the western and eastern sides of Indus River reached ± 12.5 0.55 and 19.96 0.65 m/yr on average, respectively.

Because, the nexus of land mafia, construction companies and local administrations is extraordinary active to garb precious lands of coastal sides in all around the world inorder to meet their commercial ends. After analyzing the Project Pakistan Fisherfolk forum rejects it on various social, cultural, ecological, demographic, historical, environmetal and geological grounds. PFF has virtually come to conclude that this project will pose existential threat to endangered Indus delta, mangroves, various fish species and deltaic heritage. It will cause record displacement. Moreover; it will cause potential disasters due to seismic sensitivity of the project site and its coastal location. Therefore, PFF believes, this project is not feasible on various grounds. Background of the project Sindh Government has planned to build a mega city namely Zulfiqarabd into Thatta district, Sindh, Pakistan. Sindh Assembly has passed Zulfiqarabad development Authority Bill in 2012. Recently, Sindh Cabinet also approved it (Pakistan Observer 3rd June, 2012). Sindh government has also allocated money for the city in current budget of 2012-2013. A Chinese company has come forward with a proposal to set up an economic zone in the proposed Zulfiqarbad city. The economic zone, as proposed by the Chinese investor, will house leading investors and industrialists from China to undertake mega developmental projects in the new city.

Oil crunch of June was not an abrupt eruption. It was more of an evolutionary event. What factors led to the crisis? Could it have been thwarted? Assessment of the crisis management efforts by the regulators have also been attempted. Although the Commission was assigned a set of TORs, many attendant issues were also examined and hence made part of the report. To start off, all stakeholders of oil industry were introduced which subsequently were analysed at length spread over the body of the report. A compendium of all Acts, Ordinances, Rules and Regulations has also been given in chronological order along with existing anomalies. I am thankful to Almightly Allah for his blessings and for this opportunity to serve the people of Sindh. Earlier in mid- April, I placed the Government’s Performance Report before this August House for informing the people about the major programs and activities which have been started to provide relief to the people; to trigger growth in different sectors and to strengthen the human development efforts. The Pakistan Peoples’ Party led Government at the centre and here in Sindh has faced one challenge after another in the last two years but we have remained steadfast in our resolve to strengthen the democratic institutions in the country. Today, the parliament, the judiciary, as well as the media are fully independent and the levels of check and balance of one institution over the other, have increased and strengthened to a great extent. The policy of reconciliation initiated by Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto effectively followed by our Co-Chairman and the President of Pakistan has paid off huge dividends.
