From the initiatives with individual character it has been reached a real alternative leisure. The reason? Authenticity of rural areas is a quality becoming more demanding in terms of current life. Synonymous with a holiday spent with little money in nature, rural tourism forms, like and are becoming increasingly popular. Folk heritage of folk architecture, folk customs and traditions, crafts, port and popular folklore, gastronomy specific is the most popular tourist attractions in rural tourism. Therefore, tourist villages and agro-tourist offer circumscribed, in particular, to Romanian folk brand areas, which fortunately, also benefits of natural attractions of great beauty. The rural tourism of Maramureș is a complex activity, with multiple facets. It is not exclusively based on the peasant household, but also on holidays in the middle of nature, motivated by different activities that take place due to a rich natural potential. Out of this attractive natural potential, the hydrographic component was chosen to be analyzed, as it is an important resource, which determined the emergence, development and diversification of tourism in Maramureș Land. This study intends to present the tourism value and importance of the hydrographic resources of Maramureș Land, by means of which rural tourism can be diversified in this geographical area. The hydrography is the main factor influencing the modification of the Maramureș geographic space, the development and characteristics of the settlements, the economic activities performed by the local population. It is also the main factor in directing and orienting the transport network. Maramureș Land hydrographic network has a high variety, from fresh water, to salt water, from rivers with high flows to mineral water springs, being used in diverse manners. În plan intern, ei au distrus instituţiile democratice ale Republicii de la Weimar şi au adoptat o serie de măsuri socio-economice menite să instaureze cel de-al treilea Reich, conceput să dureze o mie de ani. În acest scop, ei au decis să acţioneze pentru “purificarea” Germaniei, prin eliminarea tuturor evreilor care trăiau în această ţară – o măsură care a culminat, în cele din urmă, cu distrugerea fizică a evreilor europeni în timpul celui de-al doilea război mondial.     ROMANIAN REVIEW OF REGIONAL STUDIES, Volume III, Number 2, 2007 WOODEN CHURCHES - A REPRESENTATIVE COMPONENT IN THE CULTURAL RURAL LANDSCAPE OF TRANSYLVANIA NICOLAE CIANG Ă1 ABSTRACT. – This paper analyses one of the most representative components of the rural religious material culture – the wooden churches – typical for the historical province of Transylvania and especially for Maramure ş. Wooden churches are specific for the rural space inhabited by the Romanian communities, with an accented character of conservatism and preservation of the traditions from Maramure ş, the Some ş Plateau and the Apuseni Mountains. The physiognomic architectural characteristics and the technique of the buildings, joining the archaic means with a science of equilibrium and of wood resistance have imposed this category of objectives, offering originality and even uniqueness to the rural landscape to which they belong. Key words: wooden churches, cultural patrimony, villages of Transylvania, wood civilization. Wooden churches join as essential components in the civilization and rural culture belonging to the Romanian space, next to the households with dwellings, annexes, enclosures and gateways, using the same building material – wood. They can be considered as a quintessence of the multi - millenary folk civilization of wood, due to some anonymous creators, who formed in time a genuine school, perpetuated until nowadays, especially in Maramure ş. They succeeded a harmonious union between the ancestral representations and symbols related to the village’s universe, transposed in a marvellous way - by form, dimension, wood modelling (sculpture) and by the adoption of some stylistic components derived from Occident - as belfries and steeples, individualizing an authentic rural ”Gothic” style from Maramure ş.

    16 PORTUL POPULAR DIN ŢARA MARAMURESULUI PORTUL POPULAR DIN ŢARA MARAMURESULUI Dumitru IUGA “În timp, toţi venim din Maramureș” MIHAI EMINESCU Rezumat Articolul prezintă o sinteză a portului popular din Ţara Maramureșului, realizată în baza aprecierii critice a contribuţiilor știinţifice ale predecesorilor la promovarea domeniului și a rezultatelor obţinute de către autor în timpul cercetării manifestărilor actuale ale acestei tradiţii străvechi. Prin analiza unei factologii bogate a componentelor portului popular, conservat în mod exemplar până în prezent, autorul relevă atât consecvenţa în păstrarea unor tipare arhaice, cât și capacitatea maramureșenilor de a asimila noi materiale în procesul dezvoltării societăţii. Spiritul identitar continuă să alimenteze perpetuarea și dezvoltarea portului popular în Ţara Maramureșului, dimensionându-i semnificaţiile, mai ales, în sfera sărbătorescului. Cuvinte-cheie: Maramureș, port popular, identitate, tipare arhaice. Ţara Maramureșului, de la prima menţiune în documentele de cancelarie, la 1199, avea, până în 1920, o suprafaţă de 10.354 km2, după stabilirea graniţelor revenind României doar 3.831 km2. Voievodatul Maramureșului se întindea de la Munţii Rodnei – Pasul Prislop și Obcinele Bucovinei – Munţii Maramureșului, la sud-est și la nord, până la Talabârjaba la vest, iar la sud – Munţii vulcanici ai Oașului, Gutâiului și Ţibleșului. Ioan Mihalyi de Apșa descrie foarte sugestiv Ţara Maramureșului: “Comitatul Maramureș, situat la cursul superior al râului Tisa, formează în privinţa topohydrografică un teritoriu închis din toate laturile de dealuri mari și munţi înalţi, ca o cetate, având de poartă locul îngust lăngă Huszt, unde Tisa părăsește locul său natal.
