Reinhold Messner (Italian), an adven- turer and explorer became the first ever to summit all the 14 Eight-Thousandeers in the World (without bottled oxygen). Despite suffering the loss of his younger brother (Günther Messner) during the Nanga Parbat expedition in 1970, Mess- ner took the challenge and completed the gigantic task of climbing remaining 13 Eight-Thousanders. With great enthusiasm and efforts, Messner (and Habeler) became the first to summit Mount Everest without bottled O2.
