Each course is concluded by a comprehensive exam created by College Board. Students who enroll in an Advanced Placement course are required to take the AP examination. Post-secondary credit for an AP course may be awarded to students who score a minimum of a 3 on a 5-point scale on the corresponding AP exam. AVID's mission is to close the achievement gap by preparing students for college readiness and success in a global society. Not only are students enrolled in their school's most rigorous classes, such as honors and Advanced Placement, but also in the AVID elective. AVID is currently offered at 17 sites in our district, 1 Elementary, 10 Middle and 6 High schools. Lee High School Sandalwood High School Terry Parker High School AICE Program (Advance International Certificate of Education) The AICE program is an internationally recognized, rigorous, pre- university curriculum and examination system for highly motivated, academically oriented high school students. Sponsored by the University of Cambridge International Examinations, AICE offers a flexible, broad-based two-year curriculum for upper classmen. The Pre-AICE course of study is prescribed specifically for freshman and sophomore students. The Cambridge AICE Diploma Program encourages and develops the skills of independent research and investigation, the use of initiative and creativity and the application of skills and knowledge. The IB curriculum is desinged to promote intellectual and personal development. Schools offering the IB program Paxton School for Advanced Studies Stanton College Preparatory High School Terry Parker High School Wolfson High School for Advanced Studies & Leadership Dual Enrollment: Early College Dual enrollment is an acceleration mechanism that allows students to pursue an advanced curriculum relevant to their postsecondary interests. Dual enrollment provides high school students the opportunity to earn college credit while simultaneously earning high school credit through dual enrollment. Colleges and universities that offer dual enrollment courses to Duval County Public School students must do so by way of an articulation agreement, which describes the parameters for which the students may participate.
