Omnitrans May 2016 TRANSFERS: Foothill, RTA, VVTA, Mountain and Pass Transit Omnitrans does not issue transfers to its passengers. If you need to change buses to complete your trip, or need to travel past the end of the line on a route, you will have to pay another fare when you board the next bus, unless you purchase a 1-Day, 7-Day or 31-Day pass. You may use your Omnitrans pass as a free transfer to Foothill Transit at the Montclair Transit Center and the Pomona Transit Center. Omnitrans will accept a valid TAP card as a transfer from Foothill Transit at two locations only: the Montclair and Pomona Transit Centers. You may use your Omnitrans pass to transfer free to Riverside Transit Agency (RTA) where Omnitrans and RTA bus stops connect, such as the VA Hospital in Loma Linda, Mulberry and Marlay in Fontana, the Riverside Transit Center and the Highgrove Library in Riverside County. Omnitrans accepts Victor Valley Transit Authority’s, (VVTA) Mountain Transit’s and Pass Transit’s multi-use passes as a free transfer at points of connection. Each of these agencies provide Omnitrans valid and current multi-use pass holders with a $1 discount on passes or tickets available only onboard partner agency buses at a point of connection. TAP CARDS TAP cards are accepted fare payment methods for Southern California transit agencies such as Metro, Santa Clarita Transit, Culver Citybus, Antelope Valley Transit Authority, Foothill Transit, Norwalk Transit and Montebello Transit. Passengers using a TAP card can receive a free transfer onto an Omnitrans bus only at the Montclair and Pomona Transit Center. An Orange Disability and Senior TAP card can be used as ID to qualify for a reduced fare onboard Omnitrans buses, but it cannot be used to ride Omnitrans Access Service. METROLINK TRANSFER POLICY You may use your one-way Metrolink ticket for one free ride on an Omnitrans bus departing a Metrolink station. You can also use your round trip Metrolink ticket or multi-day pass for one Omnitrans bus trip to and from a Metrolink station. Metrolink ticket/pass must be valid for date of travel. Expired passes not accepted. Show to driver when boarding. Valid on connecting routes only. Please Note: Metrolink does not accept bus passes for discount train fare.     Staff Report TO: Mayor, and City Council Members FROM: Elizabeth Gibbs, Director of Community Services DATE February 4, 2020 SUBJECT: Opposition Letter – SunLine Transit Agency Proposed Commuter Link Route 10 Background and Analysis: On November 7, 2019, SunLine Transit Agency (SunLine) announced to the Transportation Now (T-Now) committee that they had completed a new draft schedule for their Commuter Link 220, which provides service from Palm Desert to the Riverside Metrolink Station, with stops at Casino Morongo and Beaumont Walmart (Attachment A). On November 12, 2019, SunLine held a community meeting at the Beaumont Civic Center and presented a proposed new commuter link route with service from the Coachella Valley to California State University San Bernardino’s (CSUSB) main campus in San Bernardino, with a stop at Beaumont Walmart (Attachment B). SunLine presented their proposal as follows: Current Service - Three (3) eastbound and three (3) westbound trips from Coachella Valley to Riverside, - FY 19 ridership was 13,561 passenger trips, Proposed Service - Four (4) eastbound and four (4) westbound trips from Coachella Valley to San Bernardino, and - Target passengers are CSUSB students. Following the community meeting, City staff contacted SunLine staff and requested a meeting to discuss the proposed route to gain more information about future service; however, no response was received. On January 9, 2020, SunLine staff emailed a draft support letter for their grant application for a solar microgrid to hydrogen transit project. In the letter, they introduced a new Commuter Link Route 10 bus service from Indio to San Bernardino, with stops at Beaumont Walmart and the San Bernardino Transit Center (SBTC) (Attachment C).

    Published by the Electric Traction Committee, Edmonton Trolley Coalition Edited by Retired Employees of the Edmonton Transit Service VOL. 36 Adopting Tomorrow’s Technology Today: Dayton, Ohio invests in High Tech Trolleybuses with In-Motion Charging After lengthy testing, the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority (GDRTA) is buying 26 NexGen Electric Trolleys and will put the first production model in service by 2019. The RTA Board authorized spending up to $57.4 million for the 26 vehicles and parts, plus 15 more NexGen Trolleys that will be bought once federal funding is in place, Executive Director Mark Donaghy told reporters. It is the largest bus contract in RTA history. The NexGen Electric Trolleybus bus costs 63 percent more than a standard diesel transit bus, but has a 20-year, 800,000 mile life compared to the diesel’s 12-year, 500,000 mile life, Donaghy said. Electric trolleys are cheaper to operate, better for the environment and quieter than a diesel bus, he explained. “Using electric instead of diesel buses is a step towards a clean air environment for Dayton,” said Peggy Ann Berry, an occupational safety and health professional and Climate Reality Project leader in Dayton. “Diesel buses release dirty fossil fuel emissions into the environment. These emissions exacerbate asthma attacks as well as add to the cardiac burden of older adults.” RTA is now finalizing the cost of the NexGen after making several modifications to the prototype. The US Federal Transit Administration (FTA) is picking up 80 percent of the cost, and the rest comes from the local sales tax and rider fares.
