When the world record attempt was first announced, many of The Triangle staffers were admittedly skeptical. This sounded like just another silly event that was supposed to give the appearance of an active student life on Drexel's campus. It seemed to be rather innocuous (espe cially for an event that would kick off the long awaited and much ballyhooed Centennial celebrations) but as it turned out. the event went very well indeed. The general consensus around the office was that no one would show up for an event like this. We felt that the infamous Drexel apathy would rear its ugly head and the challenge of making the world’s largest ice cream sandwich would go by with little notice. Why would stu dents tum out for such an event? Why would they want to be part of such an operation? Why would anyone want to get so messy and sticky just to be part of a small mention in a book published by an Irishman?
