Curculionid-beetles (Coleoptera: Curculionoidea) is the largest superfamily in Arthropoda with a number of important agricultural pests within the taxon. The fauna of Iranian Curculionoidea including the families Anthribidae (3 species), Rhynchitidae (15 species), Attelabidae (2 species), Brentidae (76 species), Brachyceridae (2 species), Dryophthoridae (8 species) and Curculionidae (651 species) is discussed in this paper. 757 species from 245 genera are listed with 61 new records for the fauna of Iran.

ANDERSON CANADA Mike Morris (retired) September 1992, Poland CURCULIO EDITORIAL COMMENTS Yes, this number of CURCULIO is late. It should have been prepared and sent out in September of 1996, but our museum has been going through a move to new facilities and things have been in turmoil. We are now settled in and most services are up and running again. The collections, which were packed away for the move, are also now accessible again. Seems that things went quite well and in fact our Entomology section fared quite well as the move into our new facilities resulted in a great deal more space than we already had. We’re now getting the laboratories prepared and should be back to full speed in the near future. Our mailing address has not changed! On another note, congratulations are in order for Rolf Oberprieler who has accepted the weevil systematics position at CSIRO in Canberra, Australia. This will be a great new challenge for Rolf and one in which we can all be sure he will fare admirably. The Australian weevil fauna is exceptionally diverse and interesting and with the recent books by Elwood Zimmerman, a great base has been set for further and more detailed work on the fauna. I understand Rolf will be there sometime this summer. Now all he has to do is master ‘G’Day’ and ‘mate’ and he’ll have it made! Best wishes to Rolf and his family.

Parole chiave: Dorcadionini, Macedonia, Tracia Abstract - Researches upon the Dorcadionini of Greece. IV. The species from Macedonia and Thrace. The present work deals with the species of the tribe Dorcadionini from the Greek regions of Mace- donia and Thrace. A description is given for the new subspecies Dorcadion regulare dramaticum (from oriental Macedonia), D. gallipolitanum fumidum (from central Thrace near Egiros) and D. tauricum pittinoi (from oriental Thrace). 5 new synonimies and 1 change of taxonomic status are furthermore proposed; a key and a catalogue of the species from Continental Greece are fi nally given. Key words: Dorcadionini, Macedonia, Thrace.

Munis Entomology & Zoology, 5 (2): 380-498] ABSTRACT: All taxa of the tribe Dorcadiini Latreille, 1825 in Turkey are evaluated and summarized with zoogeographical remarks. Also Dorcadion praetermissum mikhaili ssp. n. is described in the text. KEY WORDS: Dorcadion, Neodorcadion, Dorcadiini, Lamiinae, Cerambycidae, Coleoptera, Turkey. The main aim of this work is to clarify current status of the tribe Dorcadiini in Turkey. The work on Turkish Dorcadiini means to realize a study on about one third or one fourth of Turkish Cerambycidae fauna. As the same way, Turkish Dorcadiini is almost one second or one third of Dorcadiini in the whole world fauna. Turkish Dorcadiini is a very important group. This importance originated from their high endemism rate, and also their number of species. However, the information on all Turkish Dorcadiini is not enough. The first large work on Dorcadiini species was carried out by Ganglbauer (1884). He evaluated a total of 152 species of the genus Dorcadion and 13 species of the genus Neodorcadion. He gave 30 Dorcadion species and 4 Neodorcadion species for Turkey. Then, the number of Turkish Dorcadion species raised to 53 with 23 described species by Heyden (1894), Ganglbauer (1897), Jakovlev (1899), Daniel (1900, 1901), Pic (1895, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1905, 1931), Suvorov (1915), Plavilstshikov (1958).

This is achieved using a phylogenetic approach incorporating the largest datamatrix yet employed for weevil molecular systematics, and includes an investigation into the prospect of obtaining short phylogenetically informative amplicons from archival museum specimens. Newly obtained DNA sequence data is analysed from a variety of mitochondrial and nuclear loci, including 92 mitogenomes assembled through the approach of next-generation sequencing of pooled genomic DNA. The resulting trees are used to test previous morphological- and molecular-based hypotheses of weevil relationships and classification schemes. Mitogenomic-derived trees reveal topologies that are highly congruent with previous molecular studies, but that conflict with some morphological hypotheses. Strong nodal support strengthens inferences into the relationships amongst most weevil families and suggests that the largest family, the Curculionidae, is monophyletic, if the subfamily Platypodinae is excluded.

We performed Bayesian and Maximum Parsimony combined phylogenetic analyses with the main objective of testing higher-level relationships and the naturalness of the major Neotropical and Southern South American (Patagonia and Andes) tribes, including some members from other regions. We compiled a data matrix of 67 terminal units with 63 Entiminae species, as well as four outgroup taxa from Cyclominae, by 3522 molecular (from nuclear 18S rDNA and 28S rDNA, and mitochondrial 16S rDNA and COI gene sequences) and 70 morphological characters. The resulting trees recover a clade Entiminae with a monophyletic Cylydrorhinini and Premnotrypes branching off early.

The new species belongs to the D. divisum species group. It is compared to three other similar species known to occur in Continental Europe (D. divisum dissimile, D. subinterruptum, D. granigerum) and a key is provided to separate them. Dorcadion subinterruptum is recorded for the first time in Europe. Key words: Cerambycidae, Dorcadion, Bulgaria, Romania, new species. Introduction the present paper contributes to a larger study on the revision of Dorcadion of Continental Dorcadion Dalman, 1817 is a large genus which Greece (Pesarini & Sabbadini 2004, 2007, 2008, represents about 21% of the European ceram- 2010). bycid fauna, increasing to 40% if all species of Dorcadion gashtarovi n. sp. is described from Iberodorcadion Breuning, 1943 (regarded by an area which is relatively well studied and some authors as a Dorcadion subgenus) and all easily accessible to professional and amateur subspecies are included (data derived from entomologists, making the record more inter- Danilevsky 2009).
