Next Generation Jazz Orchestra (NGJO) members (21) - $1,000 each Each year, Monterey Jazz Festival brings together 21 of the most accomplished high school jazz musicians from across the country to form an all-star touring jazz orchestra. The all-star big band will perform at the 63rd Monterey Jazz Festival with the Artists-in-Residence, Christian Sands on the Education and the Main Arena Stages. NGJO Alumni have included: Joshua Redman, Ambrose Akinmusire, Benny Green, Ted Nash, Donny McCaslin, and many others! 2020 NGJO band members to be announced.

Next Generation Women in Jazz Combo members (6) - $1,000 each The Next Generation Women in Jazz Combo is a small ensemble comprised of a select group of top high school women jazz players from throughout the United States and United Kingdom, and is directed by award-winning bassist, vocalist and composer, Katie Thiroux. As a direct result of the 2019 Women in Jazz Combo, the 2019 Next Generation Jazz Orchestra had the largest percentage of young women in the orchestra’s 50-year history. In its second year, the Women in Jazz Combo recently studied and performed with Terri Lyne Carrington at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Their next performance will take place at the Monterey Jazz Festival in September.
