CURONIAN SPIT NATIONAL PARK

Route: Klaipėda (Smiltynė)– Nida

Juodkrantė, a place located 20 km from Smiltynė. Try some smoked fish sold by local fishermen. The Lagoon is along the migration route for millions of birds. Juodkrantė has a Bird Ringing Station, in which about 10,000 birds are ringed each season. If you continue your trip, you will pass through Nagliai Natural Reserve which is between Juodkrantė and Pervalka. The most significant in the reserve are the Grey (Dead) Dunes. You will be struck 2 by their wild beauty. Roaming there is forbidden; however, a special footpath leading to the Lagoon has been built. Next on your trip you will catch sight 3 of the highest dune of the spit, called Vecekrugo dune (2).
