Student Accolades ● Andrew Ladd (High Jump), Tori Ladd (600m), and Wes Hundley, Nate Cripps, Jack Andrews, and Ryan Connors (4x200m Relay Team) will be competing at the New England Track and Field Championships this Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center. Good luck!

● CONGRATULATIONS to the Girls Swim & Dive Team on becoming the Class A Girls State Champions during February vacation! This the first Swim & Dive team State title in KHS history! Team members pictured are: Annalise Cowing, Nina Sharp, Grace Girard, Chloe Matthews, Ella Yentsch, Rowan Pow, Maya Olin, Camilla Rawlings, Kaia Wirth, and Emma Thomas.

The Boys Swim & Dive Team also had an excellent showing at the State meet, finishing 4th out of 25 teams. Both teams had a number of outstanding individual performances. The girls 4x400 Free Relay of Chloe Matthews, Annalise Cowing, Grace Girard, and Ella Yentsch, and the boys Medley Relay of Toby Macedo, Nicholas Albaum, Zach Matthews, and Josh Erickson-Harris each set new school records in those events.

● Congratulations to the following Ski Athletes for competing at the Class A Alpine State Championships on February 14th & 15th at Shawnee Peak.

Girls: Izzy Fontaine, Mattie Orendorf, Halle Kimball, Katherine Sullivan, Ellie Thombs, Emma Pelletier. Mia Banglmaier also qualified.

Boys: Timmy Teguis, Nick Teguis, Hayden Trufant, Dylan Roche, Brett Clark, Sean Horgan

In addition, Izzy Fontaine and Timmy Teguis qualified for the All-States Shoot-Out race on February 23rd at Black Mountain. They finished 21st and 25th respectively against a competitive field.

The ski team closes out their season with the SMAA Championships on February 28th. Racing begins at 10am at Shawnee Peak.

● Over vacation during Presidents’ Day weekend, six members of our KHS Debate Team competed at a nationally recognized tournament held at Lesley and Harvard University.

Contestants flew in from all across the country to compete in this tournament. Our team, consisting of Seniors: Julia Connolly, Nick Quigley, and Rory Sheehan; Junior: Ruth Metcalfe; and Freshmen: Renee Bergeron and Annie Murer excelled, with Rory and Ruth making it to the Quarter Finals! That’s the top 140 of over 500 nationally recognized debaters. Congratulations to all!

SRTC Open House TONIGHT Tonight, Wednesday, February 25th from 6 to 7:30pm there is an Open House at the Sanford Regional Technical Center. This event is open to all parents/guardians of KHS eligible and interested students in Career Technical Education. The location is Sanford High School/Sanford Regional Technical Center, 100 Alumni Blvd, Sanford, ME.

Annual Kennebunk High School Art Show

The Annual Kennebunk High School Art Show, Untitled, is at the Brick Store Museum, February 24th - March 22nd. The Artist Reception is February 27th from 4:30 - 6:30pm.

Do You have an Incoming 9th Grade Student? You are cordially invited to attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 3 in the Kennebunk High School Theater at 7:00pm. At that time, we will introduce you to the many academic programs that we have in place at KHS, as well as the opportunities that are available for ninth graders in terms of clubs and activities. Parent/Teacher Conferences March 11 & 12 The Kennebunk High School Fall Parent Teacher Conferences will be held on Wednesday, March 11, from 3:00 - 5:30 PM and on Thursday, March 12 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM. We are using the scheduling program Meet the Teacher. This program will allow you to make appointments more easily.

● Before you get started, you will need your student’s ID number. This is the number used for lunch. This number can also be found on the report card in the PowerSchool parent portal.

● For the Spring conferences, you should only be selecting teachers your student currently has. We have done our best to remove those teachers with whom your student had classes for first semester. If you do see one in there, please disregard it at this time. You only need to schedule with teachers your student currently has.

Once you have signed in, you will have a choice of selecting either Wednesday, March 11th (3:00- 5:30pm) or Thursday, March 12th (3:00-8:00pm). You then select a booking mode – either automatic or manual. Choose from a list of your child’s teachers with whom you want to book appointments. Conferences are 10 minutes long. If you are scheduling manually, please allow 10 minutes between appointments. All of your bookings will be sent to you via email.

2nd Annual Trade and Technology Show On Thursday, March 12th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., KHS is hosting the 2nd Annual Trade and Technology Show. Businesses from all over our area will present interesting career paths for students to consider. For your convenience, this is being held in conjunction with our Parent/Teacher Conference night. We will be conducting a panel discussion during the parent/teacher conferences, from 7-8 PM with industry experts from Pratt & Whitney, YCCC, Sanford Regional Technical Center and Pine State Plumbing and Heating. Our goal is to answer any questions you may have about why you should consider these high- paying and rewarding career opportunities and how to get there! This is free of charge and open to parents and students of KHS.

Maine Boat Builders Show Please join Job Coach Lisa Crimp on a fun trip to see the Boat Builders Show. See the largest 3D boat ever printed! View over 100 vendors and meet boat manufacturers. See various career paths open to students for life near the water! On March 20th, the bus will leave at 8:45 and return by 1:00pm. See Mrs. Crimp for a permission slip!

KHS Spring Musical Theater Auditions Auditions for Man of La Mancha, our KHS spring theater offering, will be on Tuesday, March 3rd immediately after school from 2:30 pm -4:30 pm. Callbacks will be on Thursday, March 5th immediately after school from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm.

Anyone interested in auditioning should prepare to sing. They should prepare 16 bars of an up-tempo and ballad in the style of the show. They do not need to bring sheet music or audio accompaniment, but it is preferred. There are non-singing roles in this show, so please do not let that stop you from auditioning.

Open casting will be considered for all of the roles in the show. In other words, if a role is considered a male role in the script, in this production we may cast with a female or vice versa. Anyone can audition for any role, just be prepared to present your representation of that role at your audition. In other words, do your homework and prepare. You can sing from the show and if you are interested in a specific role, please prepare to sing the song that role sings in the show from the show.

Performances for the show are set for Thursday, April 30 thru Sunday, May 3. Two shows will be presented on Saturday, May 2. An understudy performance may be added on Sunday early evening.

Rotary International Short-term SUMMER Exchange This exchange is just that! You are matched with a student from a country you would like to visit, and you stay 3-6 weeks living with your host family. Then you return to open your home to the foreign student giving them the opportunity to experience life in an American household. Recent destinations for American students have included the UK, Japan, Turkey, Italy, Belgium, France and Spain, but there are a host of other countries which Rotary works with to make a successful match for all. KHS UNIFIED Unified Basketball pairs people with and without disabilities for training and competition. On the court, three students with disabilities are paired with two partners without disabilities. We compete against other schools with a Unified Basketball team. We try to get as many "Fans in the Stands" as we can.

Snow Ball Dance February 28th

The Snow Ball Dance will be on Friday, February 28th from 7:00 - 10:00pm in the KHS Cafeteria! It will be a "Glo-Ball" event under the black lights, so wear white to light the night while you dance! Tickets will go on sale February 24th. No tickets will be sold at the door.

If you haven’t filled out a Dance Contract since you’ve been at KHS, you will need to have one before you can purchase a ticket. Guest Contracts will be needed if you want to bring a guest. Hard copies are available in the main office.

Attention Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2021 The Class of 2021 is in urgent need of donations for the winner-take-all raffle. This is going to be a significant spring fundraiser for Project Graduation. Donations can include gift cards/certificates for local businesses, services, restaurants, and events. In addition, gas gift cards, grocery store gift cards, and gift cards to Target, Walmart, etc., have been popular donations in the past years. We need to secure $1,000 in donations to be able to hold the raffle. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Maria Fraser ([email protected]) or Susan Donaher ([email protected]). Donations can be dropped off in Mrs. Fraser’s or Mrs. Donaher's room at any time.

KHS Blood Drive – Student Council will be sponsoring an American Red Cross blood drive during Spirit Week. The drive will take place at the high school on March 17th between 8-1. There are some open spots – if you are interested please email Amy Roy at [email protected]. Students between the ages of 16- 17 can donate with parental permission slip filled out.

Important Information for Third Year Students Please click HERE to read a letter from the principal explaining the SAT process for all 3rd year students, as well as the MHSA Science Augmentation test. The letter should answer any questions you may have about both exams. If not, please do not hesitate to contact us at 985-1110, press 0.

● MHSA Science Augmentation Test April 7 On Tuesday, April 7, from 7:45 -11:00am, third year students will take the MHSA Science Augmentation test. They should report directly to their testing location. We will announce those locations prior to the test and will post signs in several prominent areas of the building to indicate testing locations. At the end of the testing, the students will resume their regular schedule for Advisory, blocks 3 and 4. Third year students who normally attend SRTC AM classes or PATHS will remain at Kennebunk High school for the test. They will be excused from class.

● SAT Exams on Tuesday, April 14 All 3rd year students will take the SAT on Tuesday, April 14 during school hours. All third year students have been registered electronically. There is no cost for this test. The test will begin at 7:45am, and we anticipate the test will end around 1pm, at which time the students will be dismissed from school. Third year students who normally attend SRTC AM classes or PATHS will remain at Kennebunk High school for the test. They will be excused from class.

· Seniors do not have school that day. They may want to use the time to prep for AP or IB exams or plan for upcoming senior projects. · Juniors will be testing until about 1:00 PM. They will leave when the testing is over. · Freshmen and Sophomores have regularly scheduled classes from 7:45-2:11.

Both the SAT and the Science Augmentation test are traditional paper/pencil tests. Students may not have cell phones in the exam rooms. They should bring the following items with them:

-#2 Pencils -A calculator for approved math sessions -Water/Snack (to eat during a break)

From the Guidance Department Wellesley College is on a mission to provide high school students and their families with relevant, helpful, and timely information about the college search, planning, and financial aid process.

They are kicking off a Wellesley Webinar series for students beginning tonight, Wednesday, February 26, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. EST, with their first webinar, A Stress-Free Approach to College Planning. They'll review college planning strategy, organizational tips, and questions for students to start thinking about as they build a college list. Additionally, they'll give students first-hand advice on how to get the most out of their college visits. The webinar is intended for students and their family members and there will be ample time for students to get their questions answered live.
