2 Welcome to Kennebunk High School

Welcome to Kennebunk High School! We offer many programs to meet a variety of students’ interests and needs and have a state-of-the-art facility to support those programs. KHS has high expectations for each student and offers the guidance and support to ensure that all students receive help in a timely, direct, and systematic manner. Assistance begins with our caring and competent teachers and extends to guided study halls, a learning center for all students, and KHS PM, an after-school homework program.

The first two years at KHS prepare students for entrance into a number of programs during their junior and senior years. These include, but are not limited to: Advanced Placement courses, the International Baccalaureate Programme, early college classes, vocational programs, on-line classes, apprenticeships, and an alternative education program. The STEM Scholar Program provides students the opportunity to earn a STEM certificate upon graduation. Our goal is to match each student with an appropriate pathway based on his/her interests and learning style.

Parents in our community are actively involved in their children’s education. Communication is encouraged through an annual Open House and parent-teacher- student conferences in the fall and spring. Vehicles such as the on-line grading portal and the school’s web site are in place to provide other means of communication. KHS is fortunate to receive community support through generous scholarships, parent representation on school and district committees, and assistance with Project Graduation and other class projects.

Students are encouraged to get involved in extra-curricular activities and athletics. KHS offers a variety of team sports, as well as many clubs. The fall and spring plays and the spring musical are highlights of the year, as is the annual art exhibit. Events such as Homecoming, Snowball, Spirit Week, and the Prom provide memorable high school experiences. The We Care projects done in November and December, as well as the community service requirement, apprenticeships, and Senior Projects, encourage students to give back to their communities.

I invite you to visit KHS. It is one thing to read about our school, but it is much better to experience Kennebunk High School in person. Only then will you feel the positive energy in our building.

Sincerely,

Susan Cressey, Principal
