Students that drive can arrive for their Block 3 KHS class @11:45 am. AM vocational students who take RSU #21 buses to KHS are expected to report to the cafe for their vocational block until 11:40 am (AM vocational students only). PM vocational students will go to lunch after Block 1 and leave from KHS at their normal time -- they will miss block 2. Half-Day Schedule Warning Bell 7:38 am Block 1 - 7:45 am- 8:31am Block 2 -8:38 am - 9:24 am Block 3 - 9:31am-10:17 am Block 4 - 10:24 am-11:10 am * There will be a grab and go lunch option at the end of the day in the lobby as the students exit for the buses. Morning vocational students will be attending their vocational programs and will not be going to any KHS classes. They will go right to the cafe when they return or leave if they have transportation. Afternoon vocational students should go to blocks 1 & 2 (7:40 am - 9:24 am) and then are free to go home if they have transportation. RSU 21 BOARD POLICIES The RSU 21 School Board of Directors and the Administrative Team have developed a comprehensive menu of policies, which guide the operation of our organization and schools. In an effort to make these policies available for all parents and community members, they have been published on our website. You may access these policies by going to http://www.rsu21.net and clicking on School Board. Once there, click on the District Policies link. Several important policies are discussed in this handbook and the policy code references are included. For complete information on these topics, it is important to review the full policy. Please note that this handbook and the District website may contain typographical mistakes, inaccuracies, or omissions, and some information may not be complete or current. The District reserves the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions and to change or update information at any time without prior notice. In the case of any inconsistency between the handbook or website and RSU 21 Board Policy, the Board Policy will govern. ACADEMIC EXPECTATIONS The Kennebunk High School reporting process will document student achievement based on numerical grades, progress on the Guiding Principles and performance on content-specific standards in the following areas*: ● Career and Education Development ● English Language Arts ● Health Education & Physical Education ● Mathematics ● Science & Technology ● Social Studies ● Visual & Performing Arts ● World Languages *According to § 4722-A, 20-A M.R.S.A. Class of 2021 will demonstrate proficiency in the 4 core subjects: English, math, science & Technology, social studies and the Guiding Principles. ● Class of 2022: 4 core, plus 1 other content area determined by school & Guiding Principles. ● Class of 2023: 4 core, plus 2 content areas determined by school & Guiding Principles. ● Class of 2024: 4 core, plus 3 content areas determined by school & Guiding Principles. ● Class of 2025: all 8 content areas & Guiding Principles. Per state statute, students with special needs must show proficiency as stated above, but each student’s individualized education program (IEP) may determine the performance tasks required to show proficiency. Page | 7 SOCIAL AND CIVIC EXPECTATIONS (Defined by the State of Maine as Guiding Principles)* Students at Kennebunk High School will be: ● Clear and effective communicators ● Self-directed and life-long learners ● Creative and practical problem solvers ● Responsible and involved citizens ● Integrative and informed thinkers * Students must have at least a ‘2’ according to the Guiding Principles’ rubric below in any given quarter in each subject in order to earn honor or high honor roll status. * Students must have at least a ‘2’ at the end of the year according to the Guiding Principles’ rubric below in order to qualify for National Honor Society and Senior Release.
