[email protected] Ryan ARCC • Over 800,000 Australians receive Newstart, Youth Allowance or a Raise the Rate Campaign related income support payment, including single parents, people with a disability, students and older Australians. Newstart has not increased in real terms in 25 years, but the cost of essentials has dramatically increased. It is impossible to look for paid work if you are homeless and hungry. Raising the Newstart rate by at least $75 a week will enable people to live with more dignity, and help

break the cycle of unemployment and poverty. It's time to #RaiseTheRate.

• Food Pantry

• The Food Pantry is a low cost grocer located here on site at Addi Road. We rescue fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and other high quality food and household products from being thrown into landfill and offer them to our community at highly affordable rates.

• By shopping at The Food Pantry you’ll be able to stretch your budget and put high quality and healthy food on the table for you and your family all the whilst reducing your carbon footprint.

• Launched in 2016 our Food Pantry program has expanded from

it’s humble beginnings operating out of an old shipping container to now occupying half of Hut 1 here on site. We’re rescuing over one tonne of food every week and are supported by a fantastic team of volunteers, staff and partner organisations.

• Whatever your financial situation, if you’re looking for low cost groceries or committed to reducing your carbon footprint then you’ll be welcome here at The Food Pantry.

Operating Hours

Please note: The Food Pantry will be closed between the 12th April 2019 and the 29th April 2019 to allow for extensive renovations. Vege-Table Mondays will continue throughout this time – every Monday between 9AM – 12PM – with the exception of Easter Monday. We will return to normal operating hours on Tuesday 30th April 2019.

• Our Domestic Violence Service is available to anyone living in the Inner West or South West of Sydney.

• Our Family Law Service is available to clients of Family Relationship Centres by direct referral by the FRC.

• Our Tenants Advocacy Service is available to tenants in the Inner West.

• Our Strata Service is available to residential owner occupiers across NSW.

YOUTH

The Youth Legal Service offers free legal information, advice and assistance to young people under the age of 25 years, across .

We can advise on issues including: Employment law problems (for example, bullying or discrimination at work, underpayment of wages and entitlements, or unfair dismissal)

•Fines and Debt (for example, mobile phone debt) •Criminal charges •Victims’ support •School suspensions/expulsions •Complaints about police •Problems at home •Family law problems

Advice is generally given over the phone through an advice “call-back” service. Advice is also provided through a range of outreach locations including the Bankstown Migrant Youth Service and Headspace.

Who can we help?

•All young people 25 years of age and younger across NSW. •Youth workers provided there is no conflict of interest. •Parents calling on behalf of young people (In some circumstances).

Community legal education We can provide training and education sessions on request for young people and youth workers. Contact us for more info!

Law Reform Marrickville Legal Centre auspices the Youth Justice Coalition – a network of policy workers, youth workers, academics and lawyers advocating for the rights of children and young people in NSW. The Youth Justice Coalition meets bimonthly to discuss current developments and law reform campaigns.

6.5 Ryan Johnstone – Manager, • Fit For Life For further information: PCYC Marrickville Fit For Life is an early intervention program designed to engage [email protected] Update of programs - ‘Fit For youth who are at-risk of poor choices and anti-social behaviour. Life and other fit For Programs Through physical fitness, nutrition and social engagement, Fit For Life aims to improve overall well-being as well as prevent and divert youth from offending behaviours.

• Focusing on fitness, community engagement and positive growth, Fit For Life builds confidence, communication and leadership as well as establishing a foundation for a positive relationship between youths and the local Police.

• Part of the Commissioners Rise Up Strategy, Fit For Life is run once a week on an ongoing basis, inclusive of: • Morning fitness session. • Healthy breakfast. • Transport to school. • Rewards Scheme • 12-17 year olds

• Fit For Work Fit For Work is a program designed to holistically address a young person’s disengagement from their family, education and employment opportunities, to help reduce and prevent their involvement in anti-social behaviour and/or crime. This will ultimately lead to increased employment opportunities for a cohort that traditionally is reflected in high unemployment statistics. Aimed at youth aged 15-17 years.

• Currently looking to partner with Dulwich Hill High and Marrickville High to deliver the intensive 10 week course for

young people who are disengaged from school

• Fit For Change Fit For Change is a program tailored to address the core principals of risk, need and responsivity. This intervention program will address the seven major risk/need factors in order to reduce and prevent re-offending. Aimed at youth aged 12-17 years
