Newstart has not increased in real terms in 25 years, but the cost of essentials has dramatically increased. It is impossible to look for paid work if you are homeless and hungry. Raising the Newstart rate by at least $75 a week will enable people to live with more dignity, and help break the cycle of unemployment and poverty. It's time to #RaiseTheRate. • Join us at the official campaign launch for Raise the Rate Inner West. • Featuring a live Q&A panel starring local political candidates and representatives from key community groups, as well as a special choir performance, let's call on politicians to #RaiseTheRate in the lead up to the federal election. • WHEN: 6:30pm, Tuesday 30th April 2019 • WHERE: Gubramorra Hall, Addison Road Community Centre • 142 Addison Road Marrickville • Sign up to join the Raise the Rate Choir: https://bit.ly/2Dhzdts • Sign the online petition here: www.acoss.org.au/raisetherate- 2/joinus/ • Food Pantry • The Food Pantry is a low cost grocer located here on site at Addi Road.
