Why Mid Essex?
What is Mid Essex ITT? Mid Essex is a school-based Initial Teacher Training scheme. This means that you will undertake most of your training within a school environment. We will train you to teach at secondary school level. Tell me about the course.... • There is a combination of school based training & provider-led training • You will spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday in your school • General Professional Studies takes place every Thursday morning • Subject Professional Studies takes place every Thursday afternoon • You will train in two different schools • You will have a visit to a primary school • You will also visit a special school • Support of at least three different mentors How long is the course? One year. The course will start the first week of September 2017 and will run until 30th June 2018. The course is full-time and you will need to be available Monday-Friday during term-time. What qualification will I get at the end? If you successfully complete the course, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status or “QTS”. Fee-paying trainees also work towards a Professional Graduate Certificate of Education (ProfGCE). Our ProfGCE is accredited by the University of Greenwich. Is QTS of equal value to a PGCE? QTS is the professional qualification that is required to teach in state schools in England and Wales. However, regulations vary in different countries – some insist on the academic qualification of PGCE. If you intend to teach abroad you should check the regulations in the relevant country. Both routes are equally promoted and valued and we have found that schools will want to employ great teachers regardless.

Beauchamps High School Business and Enterprise Centre of Excellence for Learning 11 December 2020 Dear Parent/Carer Following a number of letters from me this week, I thought it would be useful to send you a summary of where we are now in terms of the Basildon District Covid-19 plan. Firstly, I would like to say a huge thanks to all of you for your fantastic support this week. The emails and kind messages on social media really have been appreciated by me and all of the staff. I am sure you have picked up the increasing publicity, both in the local and national news regarding the worrying Covid-19 numbers in the Basildon district and in particular Wickford. The Bromfords School has now also closed to all year groups and is providing remote learning for all. Most of the other secondary schools in our district will be doing the same next week. Unfortunately, we are still being informed of a high number of students that have had positive test results, across many year groups. Following my letter yesterday, I would like again to encourage you to have your children tested for Covid-19, as many of the positive cases that we are continuing to be informed of are from asymptomatic students. I would also encourage you to try and keep your children at home if they have been asked to self-isolate, this is to protect them, your family and the community. Public Health officials have asked me to remind you of the importance of being extra careful with regards to social distancing, and adhering to the Tier 2 restrictions in the run-in to the relaxation of Covid-19 restrictions over Christmas.

I appreciate the work that the Group has done to look into the issues around the proposed closure of the school. It has been an open and inclusive process which has allowed all interested parties to put their views before the Group and I believe that is a positive outcome in itself. The purpose of this letter is to provide a full response to the recommendations and comments that the Task and Finish Group have made in their draft report. You have already received an interim reply from me sent on 23 August. I hope that this letter builds on that interim response and addresses the points raised in your report. The Group’s Recommendation My first point is on the recommendation from the Group to keep the school open and your conclusion that there is insufficient evidence to close the school. Having carefully considered the issues set out in the scrutiny report I remain unconvinced that you have provided sufficient evidence to justify this conclusion. The decision must be based on the viability or otherwise of the school.
