EBC 5/6/20 (Wed PM Video) Fighting the Battle of Hopelessness with of Hope

Honestly, it would be easy to adopt Psalm 13:1 as our motto right now! How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me? Psalm 13:1 (NASB)

1) S That Seem Hopeless

2) S to Which We Must Firmly Hold

a) Hope in God R My Focus Be strong and let your heart take courage, All you who hope in the LORD. Psalm 31:24 (NASB) Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope for His lovingkindness. Psalm 33:18 (NASB) "And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You. :7 (NASB)

b) Hope in God R My Confidence Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him For the help of His presence. Psalm 42:5 (NASB) My soul, wait in silence for God only, For my hope is from Him. 6 He only is my rock and my salvation, My stronghold; I shall not be shaken. Psalm 62:5-6 (NASB) But as for me, I will hope continually, And will praise You yet more and more. :14 (NASB) I wait for the LORD, my soul does wait, And in His word do I hope. :5 (NASB)

c) Hope in God R My Worship Praise the LORD! Praise the LORD, O my soul! 2 I will praise the LORD while I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being. 3 Do not trust in princes, In mortal man, in whom there is no salvation. 4 His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish. 5 How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, Whose hope is in the LORD his God, 6 Who made heaven and earth, The sea and all that is in them; Who keeps faith forever; 7 Who executes justice for the oppressed; Who gives food to the hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free. 8 The LORD opens the eyes of the blind; The LORD raises up those who are bowed down; The LORD loves the righteous; 9 The LORD protects the strangers; He supports the fatherless and the widow, But He thwarts the way of the wicked. 10 The LORD will reign forever, Your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the LORD! :1-10 (NASB)

3) S That We Will Soon Take

a) Reopen in a MEASURED way. Use caution and be aware of and follow the recommendations of national, state, and local leaders and agencies. b) Reopen in a PRIORITIZED way. Determine what your priorities are regarding which services and ministries you will provide immediately, with a desire to add ministries as possible. c) Reopen in a FOCUSED way. Focus on the Great Commission. Focus on the spiritual, physical, and emotional well- being of all. Focus on making much of ! {www.alsbom.org/reopen}

The Solid Rock 1. My hope is built on nothing less (Chorus) Words: Edward Mote Than Jesus' blood and righteousness On Christ the solid Rock I stand I dare not trust the sweetest frame All other ground is sinking sand But wholly lean on Jesus' Name All other ground is sinking sand

2. When darkness seems to 3. His oath, His covenant, His blood 4. When He shall come with trumpet hide His face Support me in the whelming flood sound I rest on His unchanging grace When all around my soul gives way Oh may I then in Him be found In every high and stormy gale He then is all my Hope and Stay Dressed in His righteousness alone My anchor holds within the veil Faultless to stand before the throne
