Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo Some secrets are too terrible to reveal . .Some crimes are too unspeakable to solve . In the sleepy rural town of Painters Mill, Ohio, the Amish and "English" residents have lived side by side for two centuries. But sixteen years ago, a series of brutal murders shattered the peaceful farming community. In the aftermath of the vio- lence, the town was left with a sense of fragility, a loss of innocence. Kate Burkholder, a young Amish girl, survived the terror of the Slaughterhouse Killer but came away from its brutality with the realization that she no longer be- longed with the Amish. Now, a wealth of experience later, Kate has been asked to return to Painters Mill as Chief of Police. Her Amish roots and big city law enforcement background make her the perfect candidate. She's certain she's come to terms with her past--until the first body is discovered in a snowy field. Kate vows to stop the killer before he strikes again. But to do so, she must betray both her family and her Amish past--and expose a dark secret that could destroy her. Sworn to Silence is the first novel in the bestselling Kate Burkholder Series, and the inspiration for the Lifetime original movie, An Amish Murder. 6:00 PM Monday Copies are available at the circulation desk. The Westville Bookworms meet April 5th on the first Monday of each month. Christy Written by Catherine Marshall Read by Kellie Martin Presented by Oasis Audio Catherine Marshall’s historical Christian fiction novel read by Emmy nominated Kellie Martin (Life Goes On, ER) who played Christy in the television series. Listen to it on In the year 1912 Christy Huddleston left home at 19 to teach school in the Smokey Mountains. There she came to know and love the wild mountain people with their fierce pride, their dark superstitions, their terrible poverty, their yearning for beauty and truth. But as Christy strug- gles to find acceptance in her new home, some see her and her one-room school as a threat to their way of life. Her faith is challenged and her heart is torn between two strong men with conflicting views about how to care for the families of the Cove. -From the publisher. Kellie Martin’s enchanting narration of the timeless 1967 novel which spawned the 1994 CBS television series starring Martin as Christy Huddleston has given this audiobook a 4.7 rating on Audibles along with rave reviews. She brings warmth, love, and passion to Mar- shall’s beautiful prose and captures the essence of the novel’s main themes of love, courage, strength, and faith. - From Library Staff Member Lisa Kellie Martin as Christy.
