The Nave is the largest part of the cathedral and worship takes place regularly in this space.

This area, flanked by arches, provides stunning views of the building’s fourteenth century Quire stalls, West Window and decorative wooden Victorian ceiling.

EVENTS The Chapter House

The magnificentt Chapter House with its fine vaulted ceiling is one of the most important surviving parts of the medieval . It served as the monk’s daily meeting place, where they listened to a chapter from the Rule of St Benedict and discussed the business affairs of the monastery.

EVENTS The Garth FOR DRINKS RECEPTIONS

The garden or ‘Garth’ would have provided herbs for medicines and cooking. The pool was originally a holding pond for fish as this would have been an important part of the monastic diet.

The statue, entitled Water of Life, was designed by Stephen Broadbent and was installed in 1994.
