The eastern roads to Mongu are overall in good condition , even though the tarmac is damaged and has cracked in some places. Access from Livingstone is good and the road is in good condition. Pontoon operations are still operational though the World Bank funded bridge is now completed and awaits commissioning during the month of May 2021. Once the bridge has been commissioned, it is expected that traffic will increase at this border point as it is a shorter route from Livingstone City in Zambia to the City of Johannesburg in South Africa.
