The bucks now face Tranmere Rovers in the final, on 28th April at . 26 3 *Original Club folded in 1893 LETS MAKE HISTORY…….AGAIN!!! The original Bootle FC were formed in 1880 and played at Hawthorne Road (next to the cricket ground). They were in fact Everton FC’s biggest rivals. Bootle were the first team to win the competition and narrowly missed out on becoming a founder member of the football league, to Everton.

In 1889–90 Bootle became founder members of the new Football Alliance, which soon became the second division (now the championship!). That season was the most successful as we finished league runners-up, reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, where we lost to Blackburn Rovers (0-7). When the Alliance merged with the Football League in 1892, Bootle became founder members of the new Second Division. However, despite a respectable 8th place final position, the club dropped out after one season and seemingly disappeared due to financial problems. Bootle FC’s place in the football league was taken by Liverpool FC.

Football returned to Hawthorne Road when a new club, Bootle Athletic. was later formed with the new team initially playing in the Liverpool Leagues. In 1948 the club moved to nearby Bootle Stadium and were elected to the Lancashire Combination 2, which was won at the first attempt. However, Bootle struggled in the top-flight and after several tough seasons withdrew and folded during the 1953–54 campaign.

In 1953, the current club was formed as Langton and played in the local leagues. After a very successful spell in the Liverpool County Combination (which we won on numerous occasions) the club reverted back to it’s It’s better known identity of Bootle F.C. in 1973; and a year later joined the Lancashire Combination, which we won in 1976 and 1977. Bootle then joined the Second Division of the County League, which was won in our first season, and we were promoted to the First Division. In 1982 the Cheshire County League was one of the leagues that merged to form the North West Counties League, which Bootle duly joined, becoming a member of the First Division. The club spent most of their time in the First Division until 2000 when we unfortunately dropped into the Second THE LIVERPOOL SENIOR CUP FINAL Division. However, despite finishing 6th in 2002, the club dropped into the Liverpool County Combination as Bucks Park was consigned to history. In MONDAY 28TH APRIL 2014 2006 the club, with a new ground, were elected back into Division 2 of the PRENTON PARK North West Counties League. In 2009 Bootle won promotion to the NWCL Premier Division and also won the Championship. In 2009/10, our first 7.45PM KICK-OFF season back in the NWCFL Premier Division Bootle finished a NWCFL highest placing of 3rd. In 2010/11 finished 6th place. They equalled the 3rd ADMISSION £6/ £3 place again in 2012. 1ST TIME BOOTLE COULD WIN BACK TO BACK 2013 saw Bootle come so close to promotion, narrowly missing out with SENIOR CUPS SINCE 1889 three games to go, and eventually finishing 3rd again. However they put that disappointment aside to win the Liverpool Senior Cup for the first time LETS DO THIS #FORFRANKIE in 124 years. 25 Hello to all supporters players committee of both Bootle FC and our visitors Stockport Sports and welcome all to the Delta taxis stadium for the final time this season.

It feels like I have blinked and the season is over but looking back there has been many ups and downs for the club in the 2013/14 season. I would like to reflect on on what has been an MATCHDAY PRICES emotional season.

I will start with the low’s, and the lowest has been losing Frankie. 1ST TEAM: £5 ADULTS Everyone associated with the club has been affected and we are still trying to recover from it. He was a courageous man and is one of the main reasons I am confident enough to be the first £2 CONCESSIONS team manager today. He was and still is a huge influence in my life. UNDER 16’S FREE Another low of this season was Neil Prince’s departure from the club. It may seem strange for me as manager to comment on this but at the start of the season was a genuine expectancy to win the league. When it didn’t work out and the committee made their decision, it was a real low point. However the club had to move on and I would like to thank Neil for his time and dedication to the role.

The biggest high this season no doubt has to be the Senior Cup final win back in August. It was a special occasion and one that we still hope to repeat this Monday night.

Another high for me personally was taking over as manager. It is something I’ve always wanted to work towards, I was just not expecting it to be so soon! To get the first win as FREE ENTRY FOR ALL manager was also satisfying and with thanks to Neil McQueen & Richie Boswarva who have stepped into the management team roles to assist me. RESERVE & YOUTH GAMES: So to today. This is the last chance for the lads to play their way into the Senior Cup Final squad and prove they are worth their place. Especially the younger lads and fringe LEAGUE GAMES: £1 ENTRY players. I personally would be giving my all to prove I should be part of the squad. Thanks for taking the time to read my SELECTED GAMES FREE ENTRY programme notes and I hope you enjoy the game. Thank you all for your support this season- the Joseph WWW.BOOTLEFC.CO.UK players and I are extremely grateful of it. Thanks Joe Doran BUCKS 5IVES 5 A-SIDE AND 7 A-SIDE TOP GRADE 3G PITCHES FOR HIRE

BAR & FUNCTION ROOM FOR HIRE ANY OCCASION CONTACT LENA ON 07928994441 6 23 Norton United clinched the Premier Division title with one game to spare, after a 4-0 win at Winsford United on Tuesday night.

Any nerves in the visitors camp were eased when Leigh Skellern put Norton ahead in the 15th minute with a close range effort, and they doubled their advantage on the stroke of half time through an own goal.

Five minutes after the restart Chris Baker added a third and once a thumping header from Jon Beaumont on the hour mark made it 4-0, the celebrations began among the Norton supporters, and Twitter was ablaze as messages of congratulations rained in as the game moved to its conclusion.

Manger Scott Dundas, who won the league as a player with Kidsgrove Athletic in 1998, reflected afterwards on his title winning double and his squad's achievement.

"It's been 14 years since I won this league with Kidsgrove, and now to win it as a manager is just fantastic, it's a great feeling", he said.

"The way the lads have performed all season has been exceptional, and it's amazing that a small club like ours won promotion, had just one season in the Premier Division, and are now being promoted again. It's beyond our wildest dreams.

"On Saturday at West Didsbury we thought we had won it (the title) then, with a goal in the last minute that wasn't given, and I thought we were unlucky only to get a draw then.

"I was determined we would win it ourselves and not have to depend on another result elsewhere, and I'm really pleased with how we approached the game tonight.

"We dominated from the start, got the goals at the right time and it was a really good performance.

Work to enclose the ground began in 1996–97, BOOTLE FC AWARDS NIGHT SATURDAY 17TH MAY 2014 and Woodley’s application to join the North West Counties League was accepted. By this time, the management team of John Imrie and Gary Lowe had been introduced. Both had played at the highest levels for professional and semi- ALL INVITED! WE ARE CELEBRATING THE SENIOR TEAMS professional clubs such as Manchester City, Crystal Palace, Macclesfield and Runcorn. AND ALSO OUR UNDER 18’S & 17’S SIDES!!

During the 1997–98 season Woodley set a North West Counties League record, when Peter Carty scored seven goals in a league game against Blackpool Mechanics. Carty was also Woodley’s leading scorer that season, netting 35 goals. Woodley also scored a record 102 league goals that season. During the summer of 1998 Woodley began work on its biggest project to date, the installation of floodlights. The lighted pitch gave the club a boost, enabling it to enter the FA Vase, Cheshire Senior Cup, North Western Trans Floodlit Cup and the FA Cup.

The 1999–2000 season saw the club’s first ever FA Cup match against reigning NCEL champions Ossett Albion, which resulted in a 2–1 victory for the Steelmen. The continued work of the club was rewarded that season when the Steelmen won the Second Division championship on goal difference from Curzon, winning 12 of their last 13 matches and drawing the other, to take its place in the top flight of the North West Counties League. The 2000–01 and 2001–02 seasons saw the club consolidate itself in the top half of the NWCFL First Division, with its reserve team winning a double championship in 2002; it MATCH won the Reserve Division title for the second consecutive year and the Reserve Cup. The season finished with work beginning on a new 200-seat stand, which was due to be finished for the 2002–2003 season. The 2003–2004 was Woodley’s greatest to date. It CENTRE won the Cheshire FA Senior Cup, beating Witton Albion in the final; unfortunately, that game was better-known for its “streaker incident” than for its being the first time a North West Counties side reached the finals. The FA restructuring of the football pyramid allowed Woodley to gain promotion to the Northern Premier League by finishing fourth in the league.

With the Lambeth Grove stadium passed for the Northern Premier League, the Club declared itself a limited company effective 1 August 2004.

The 2004–05 season saw Woodley Sports compete in the NPL Division One; it finished 11th and reached the final of the Chairman’s Cup. Off the pitch the club obtained the support of two local businessmen, who have worked with the club on £3.5 million worth of development on the site. Phase one was the installation of a synthetic surface in July 2005, which insured no future postponements and provided an income stream for the club from hiring of the facilities. Future plans included new floodlights, additional seating, covered standing accommodations, new perimeter fencing and new treatment rooms for use by players and spectators.

The 2005–06 season saw Woodley finish in their highest NPL position (finishing fourth, gaining an automatic playoff place), only to lose against Gresley Rovers. A youth team was introduced; the previous squad moved up to become the reserve team, competing in the Lancashire Lancit League.

2006–07 was disappointing by contrast with a 10th-place finish; however, the season was notable for cup successes in major competitions at Conference North, Leigh RMI in the FA Cup and Moor Green in the FA Trophy. Home successes were gained against Marine and Whitby Town. However, they were defeated 8–7 on a penalty kick in overtime in the League President’s Cup semifinal at Premier League side Matlock, despite playing over an hour with 10 men.
