FAITH FORMATION

This Sunday’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus’ teachings, and the miracles he performed, were often rejected by many of the people of his time. Those who believed in Jesus and saw signs of God the Father in Jesus’ words often displayed a deep faith. Their acceptance of Jesus’ teaching, as he revealed the Father to them, displayed their openness and willingness to receive the message of his preaching. Although we were not eyewit- nesses to what Jesus proclaimed during his time on earth, may we always remain open to his teachings and signs of his pres- ence in our own lives and the lives of all we encounter.

Registration for our 2020-21 Faith Formation year continues. Families of children who have been with us received registra- tion forms. We kindly ask that these be returned as soon as possible so that our plans can be made. Any families with chil- dren who are entering first grade in September should register at this time. Children will be prepared over a two year period to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation and the Eucharist. We also welcome any families new to our parish and any chil- dren who may have been delayed in receiving the sacraments. We invite you to contact the Faith Formation Office to receive registration information, as well as with any questions or concerns.

Throughout the years, our parish has been so very blessed with dedicated, faith-filled Catechists, who have shared their faith with the young people of our parish. We invite all parishioners to pray about and reflect on joining our ministry. Initial and ongoing formation and support are provided. We also welcome those who may wish to assist in a class. I would love to hear from everyone who feels they may be called to be a Catechist, so we can discuss this special opportunity of doing the Lord’s work in our parish.

Our Baptisms are once again taking place. Father Len and I were happy to welcome two families in July who had prepared for their children’s reception of the sacrament. We are looking forward to our upcoming July and August Baptisms with families who have patiently waited to celebrate their child’s entry into the church. If you had been planning to have your child baptized and have not as yet contacted us, please feel free to do so and we can arrange for your child’s reception of the sacrament.

Many Blessings,

Lynn Fein
