As is the case for all cross-border projects, the activities have been agreed upon and developed in partnership with the Austrian associations “Tourismusverband Lienzer Dolomiten” (Lienz- Osttirol region), “Tourismusverband Hochpustertal” (Sillian) and “Verein zur Förderung des Stadtmarktes Lienz”, and with the Bolzano partner “Centro Culturale Grand Hotel Dobbiaco”. The project is an excellent opportunity to promote typical mountain produce, in particular cheeses, in order to create a close link with the promotion of the local area, culture and tourism. There is a clear connection between, one the one hand, the tourist, hotel and catering trades and on the other, the safeguarding and promotion of typical quality produce which, in particular in mountain areas, is one of the main channels of communication with the visitor, insofar as it is representative of the identity of the people who live and work in the mountains.

Der Abschnitt vom Hochpustertal bis Klagenfurt ist besonders gut für Familien mit Kindern und für Radreiseneulinge geeignet. Die Tour beginnt im Hochpustertal, in der Nähe des Drau Ursprunges. Hier hat bereits Gustav Mahler sein inspiratives Plätzchen zum Komponieren gefunden. Der Fluss Drau ist ständiger Begleiter auf dem Weg in die Osttiroler Hauptstadt Lienz. Von dort geht es weiter über die Ortschaften Spittal und Villach zum Klopeiner See. Unterwegs laden mehrere Badeseen zu einem erfrischenden Sprung in das kühle Nass ein. Wer möchte, kann aber auch einfach an den Ufern des Millstätter-*, Ossiacher-*, Faaker- oder Wörthersees* die Sonnenstrahlen genießen. Welcome from Major of Auronzo …. 2018 ECA JUNIOR & U23 CANOE SPRINT EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENT OF THE ITALIAN CANOE FEDERATION An important international event returns to Italy and it does so in the magnificent setting of Auronzo di Cadore with the ECA European Canoe Sprint Junior & Under 23 Championships. After having organised some international events, the Italian Canoe Kayak Federation is going through a new experience, to be once again the protagonist of a great competition. A sincere thank you to the Organising Committee in the person of Andrea Bedin, who has successfully organised several international events – including the annual International Flatwater Sprint regatta in Auronzo di Cadore which is dedicated to the youth categories. For these European Championships we will be at the side of this further important event, supporting it in the institutional relations, in the organisation and communications. The best athletes of the youth categories will be present, representing the future of the Olympic canoe. It will be an extraordinary event, capable of combining competition and the desire for results, the beauty of the landscape and the warmth of an Italian welcome. The quality of the competition field, the readiness and the competence of all those who for years work on the events organised in Auronzo di Cadore, the hospitality of the town, are characteristics that will make these European championships unforgettable.
