Brahmfeld’s City Quartet. „Surprisingly hanseatic“ for visitors of Hamburg. Good for small smartphones! The Binnenalster Jungfernstieg and Binnenalster are a happy uni- on of urban planning in the 19th century. The Great Fire of 1842, which destroyed almost the entire Neustadt, provided an opportunity for ingenious urban planners to plan a spacious city centre on the waterfront. The Jungfern- stieg, where Brahmfeld & Gutruf was located for 170 years in the Gutruf-building, is a Apple megastore today. Neuer Wall round the corner is a street of many fine stores. Everything here is hanseatic, surprising. The international district of Hamburg: Jungfernstieg, Neuer Wall, Große Bleichen The Neuer Wall has become the center of in- ternational business and therefore enters into competition with New Bond Street and Maxi- milianstraße. However, there are also traditio- nal clusters such as the “quadrant” Brahmfeld & Gutruf, Campbell and Felix Jud. The Fleets (town canals), the passages, the transverse axes are beautiful in this old quarter of the so-called Neustadt, which newly emerged after the great fire of 1842. Part of Hamburg‘s world heritage. The Kontorhaus district: The Chilehaus by Fritz Höger Now it is a UNESCO World Heritage: The Chile- Kontorhaus by Fritz Höger from the 1920s. This type of house, unique in the world, was initially created at Neuer Wall and Jungfernstieg. The Hildebrandhaus, where our shop is located, has one of the most beautiful Art Nouveau halls. Large office-Kontorhouses were built behind the town hall in the early 20th century. Fritz Höger’s Chilehaus is the icon of that time.

A Day In Hamburg 1) Why should Hamburg, Germany be visited? Hamburg is not the top of the list for must- see places like London, Paris or Munich and that is part of its charm. It is the second largest city in Germany, the seventh largest in Europe, but you don´t really feel it. Located on the water and dotted with parks and wooded areas; Hamburg is a city that welcomes you right away. It is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany! Very metropolitan and friendly, but also full of history and beauty. Hamburg is a harbour city, with so many gorgeous water canals, the Alster Lake and the Elbe River! 2) Must-see/Do-not-miss attractions a. Ladies Day: A day trip to one of the many little 'doll house' towns that dot the countryside would be fun for Ladies' Day. b. With spouse or partner: • Get on a bike. There are so many fabulous bike paths, including the North Sea Bike Route, that lead you – even if you are an inexperienced rider – around the city. The Deutsche Bahn has bike rental stands at most of the tourist attractions. You can rent for as little as15 minutes or for multiple hours using your bank card. • Take in a soccer game. Both the HSV and St. Pauli draw in enthusiastic crowds for every game. c. 1 Postaktuell – alle - 30. September 2020 Jungfernstieg – Große Bleichen – Neuer Wall Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ab Oktober werden der Jungfernstieg sowie Teile des Neuen Walls und der Großen Bleichen weitgehend autofrei. Wir möchten Sie hiermit über die geplanten Maßnahmen informieren. Quelle: Behörde für Stadtentwicklung und Wohnen/moka-studio Die Innenstadt mit ihrer einzigartigen Lage zwischen Elbe und Alster ist das Herzstück Hamburgs. Ihre Anziehungskraft für Besucherinnen und Besucher soll erhalten und deutlich gestärkt werden. Die Innenstadt setzt gezielt Anreize zum Besuch und bietet gleichsam Aufenthaltsqualität – sei es zum Einkaufen, dem Genuss zahlreicher gastronomischer Angebote, oder auch als Arbeits- und Wohnumfeld. Die Angebote der Innenstadt richten sich an alle Hamburgerinnen und Hamburger aber natürlich auch an Besucherinnen und Besucher. Um diese Angebote sicherzustellen und auszubauen ist es notwendig, die Attraktivität der Innenstadt mit geeigneten Maßnahmen zu steigern. Eine der wichtigsten Maßnahmen betrifft den Jungfernstieg. 2 Was ist der Plan für den Jungfernstieg, den Neuen Wall und die Großen Bleichen? • Ab 5. Oktober 2020 wird der bestehende, nicht benutzungspflichtige Radweg (dunkle Steinreihe auf dem Gehweg der Uferseite) am Jungfernstieg zurückgebaut. Ziel ist hier in Zukunft vor allem die Entschärfung von Konflikten zwischen dem Fuß- und Radverkehr. • Ab 16. Oktober 2020 werden der Jungfernstieg sowie der Neue Wall und die Großen Bleichen zwischen Jungfernstieg und Poststraße durch entsprechende Beschilderungen für große Teile des Autoverkehrs gesperrt. Der Radverkehr wird im Jungfernstieg bei Tempo 30 im Mischverkehr mit den Bussen auf der Fahrbahn geführt. Die Markierung einer neuen, durchgehenden Mittelinsel wird es Fußgängerinnen und Fußgängern ermöglichen, den Jungfernstieg auf der gesamten Strecke gefahrlos zu überqueren.
