Through a collection of children's stories with the theme of Jambinese local wisdom, language and culture in the frame of the diversity, in hopes, to introduce and build children’s attitudes to always appreciate what is in their environment. The collection of children's stories is a medium of communication with children to stimulate children’s imagination and develops a positive attitude towards their social environments; parents, teachers, brothers, sisters and their friends as instilling ethical values as the character of the Indonesian nation. Thus children's literature will provide an aesthetic experience of Jambinese local wisdom, language and culture and will stimulate intellectual and emotional responses for children through imagination in accordance with their age.     Chapter 3 Geology & Tectonics 3.1 Geology The general geological features of Indonesia are shown in Figure 3.1. The basement formation is metamorphic and it is intruded with plutonic formations. They are overlain with Mesozoic, Cenozoic, recent volcanic formations and quaternary deposits. The oldest rocks of Sumatra Island are gneiss, schist and quartzite and the schists often contain gold. They probably belong to several geological periods, but all were folded and denuded before the Carboniferous beds were deposited. They form the backbone of the island, and crop out on the surface at intervals along the mountain chain which runs parallel to the west coast. They are penetrated by granitic rock at several locations, which are also Pre-Carboniferous. The next series of rocks consist of slates below and limestone above. It lies unconformably upon the older rocks; and the limestone contains Fusulina, Phihipsia and Productus, indicating that it belongs to the Upper Carboniferous. They are accompanied by intrusions of diabase and gabbro, and they are sometimes folded, but they are little disturbed. No Permian beds are known, and Mesozoic deposits such as Triassic clays and sandstones with Daonella have been found in the upper part of the basin of the Kwalu (East Sumatra). They rest unconformably upon the Carboniferous beds, and have been steeply tilted. Cretaceous beds also have been buckled. Tertiary deposits are very widely spread over the plains and low-lying regions. They consist of breccias, conglomerates, sandstones, marls, and limestones, with seams of coal and lignite.

Nekton is aquatic organism that swims and moves actively on their desire, for example, fish, shrimp, amphibian and also big aquatic insects. The purpose of this research was to know the habitat condition and biodiversity of nekton in the upstream of Wampu watershed. The habitat condition was measured by examining the temperature, visibility, flow velocity, depth of waters, dissolved oxygen, pH, kind of substrate, the width of the river, body width of river and rate of flow of the river. The type of nekton was determined by catching the nekton using a backpack of electrofishing unit with an electric flow of 12 Volt and 9 Ampere.

This guidebook is the first book from KSNP which explains the histo- ry of the national park, duties and functions, organization, location and accessibility, biodiversity, tourism, cultures, and many other in- formation about the park. Kerinci Seblat National Park is an area with high germplasms and ecosystem diversity which are combined with indig- enous culture. Therefore, in 2004, this park is declared as a one of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. This guidebook attempts to pro- vide adequate information about this national park biodiversity as well as its tourist attractions which illustrate its harmonious relation- ship with the local people. Finally, sincere appreciation to all contributors which make this book is possible to be produced.
