Kjo Rivistë stisën vatra, shtron trìesa anche un passo davanti al tempo; e il solco che ha aperto, vëllazërije, bashkon Arbërì e Shqipërì. nella Terra nostra arbëreshe, è quello giusto, necessario. E, pas asaj, edhe të tjerë priftra e Madre Teresa, a settembre l’avremo Santa: la prima murgj, martirë të regjimit komunist të Enver Hoxhës santa albanese. Pallati i Radios, kati III Tel: 038 225 566- local 220 6 PARATHËNIE Studimi i sonetit në poezinë shqipe, ka qenë një preokupim i hershëm imi, që nga vitet 1986-1989, kur i kam studiuar sonetet e Ndre Mjedjes, sepse që atëherë kam qenë i bindur se studimi i kësaj forme poetike jep një pamje esenciale të evoluimit dhe të strukturës së vargut shqip. Mirëpo, për shkak të përmbysjeve të mëdha që sollën vitet nëntëdhjetë, puna ime në këtë projekt pati ndërprerje dhe u mbajt në këmbë me një ritëm tepër të ngadaltë. Këtij projekti studimor iu riktheva me përqendrimin e duhur vetëm pas vitit 2001, kur u miratua si tezë e doktoranturës në Fakultetin e Filologjisë të Universitetit të Prishtinës. Idetë e hershme dhe materialet e mbledhura nëpër vite, qenë një ndihmesë e jashtëzakonshme, për ta intensifikuar punën në këtë projekt dhe për të sublimuar rezultatet e punës studimore për një periudhë dyvjeçare. Mirëpo, finalizimit të këtij projekti, sërish i dolën ngatërresa në rrugë, të cilat jo vetëm e shtynë mbrojtjen publike të tij për dy vjet të plota, por ndikuan që të bëja edhe disa plotësime sasiore të studimit, si dhe disa ndryshime metodologjike, të cilat nuk më ishin dukur shumë domethënëse për trajtim. 7 Versioni që po botohet, ka përjetuar disa shkurtime, që janë të natyrshme. Por, pamja e përftuar e sonetit në poezinë shqipe, besoj se mbetet mjaft e plotë dhe paraqet një pikënisje thelbësore edhe për studimet e mëtejshme në këtë lëmi.

The historical background Being at the crossroads between various spheres of culture has never been a gain to the Albanians as one might have expected. An Albanian national culture and literature1 was late to develop and had enormous difficulty asserting itself between the Catholic Latin civilization of the Adriatic coast, the venerable Orthodox traditions of the Greeks, Serbs and Bulgarians and the sophisticated Islamic culture of the Ottoman Empire. First non-literary traces of written Albanian are known from the 15th century, e. g. Bishop Paulus ’ baptismal formula of November 8, 1462. Beginning with the Missal (Meshari) of Gjon Buzuku2 in 1555, the early Albanian literature of the 16th and 17th century with its primarily religious focus might have provided a foundation for literary creativity in the age of the Counter- Reformation under the somewhat ambiguous patronage of the Catholic Church, had not the banners of Islam soon been unfurled on the eastern horizons. The Ottoman colonization of Albania, which had begun as early as 1385, was to split the Albanians definitively into three spheres of culture, all virtually independent of one another: 1) the cosmopolitan traditions of the Islamic Orient using initially

Robert Elsie, one of the few Albanologists working in English, has brought attention to Albanian literaturre by way of several books of translation as well as critical works on politics, culture, history and individual authors. There is as yet no significant body of literary criticism which analyzes broad thematic trends and poetic memes in texts from a variety of periods and places. This essay seeks to serve as a foundatiion for this kind of synthetic scholarship. Through close readings of poems from the beginnings of Albanian literature to today on the inter-related themes of exile and nostalgia, this work emphasizes the evolution of Albanian attitudes about colonization and independence as they are viewed from at home and inn the diaspora. Keywoords: : Albania, exile, poetics, diaspora Özet: Genelde Arnavut edebiyatı ve özelde de Arnavut şiiri Balkan’ların dışına taşan bir akademik ilgiye sahip olmuştur; ancak halen okuyucu ve eleştirmenlere bu edebiyatın sunacakları çoktur. İngilizce yazan Arnavutbilimcilerden Robert Elsie yapmış olduğu çeviriler ve politik, kültürel, tarihseel ve bireysel yazan bir çok yazar hakkındaki eleştirileriyle Arnavvuut edebiyatını çalışan bir kaç kişiden birridir.     Albanian Literary Circle in Italy by Leka Ndoja 41

    Albanian Literary Circle In Italy by Leka Ndoja Abstract Italy's Literary Circle with its creation after the political emigration wave (1945-1990), in the context of Italian - Arbëresh Colony, as a paradigm of the Albanian Literary System during national Revival, was involved in an aggregate of literary and cultural activities. The Literary Circle of Albanian Diaspora in Italy, marked in production, volume, and norm and determined by university institutions of Palermo - Rome - Naples - Bari. Those universities rendered possible the appropriate climate to set up a national literary sub-system model with all systemic components: production, publications and system-creative magazines as Shêjzat [The Pleiades] (august 1957 - 1978), Koha e Jonë [Our Time] (1962-1992); systemic-center authors as: Father Georg Fishta O.F.M.-Ernest Koliqi and Martin Camaj. But, Ernest Koliqi was as the director of the Albanian Studies Institute at Rome University, the master-key of an increasing in the volume of the intercultural activities, as regards the institutional critique, various national celebrations of emigrants, and international symposiums such as the 20th anniversary of the death of Father George Fishta O.F.M.; or the celebrations on the 500th anniversary of the death of Scanderbeg, in Palermo and Rome (1968). But the main merit of Koliqi was to restore a new Albanian Literary Center in the West and the foundation in Rome of Shêjzat literary magazine. The Albanian Rome Literary Circle was the counterpart of the National Center of Tirana and sometimes even an antagonist. Various outstanding achievements in the visual arts were celebrated by the painter Ibrahim Kodra with about 20 international awards, as well as the iconographic painter Lin Delia who took part in some audiences with the Pope Pole VI etc..

To date, scholarly research has nevertheless focused mostly on political aspect, pointing out the lack of civil rights and liberties under communist totalitarian systems. The same case is valid for the study of communism in Albania, as well. A majority of the works on the history of the communist regime in Albania either glorify the regime if they are products of that period, or blame it for its obvious negative sides, if these works have been written after the regime’s collapse. In an effort to overcome this dichotomy, the current thesis focuses on economic history, especially on the industrialization aspect I argue that the Albanian economy underwent a total transformation under communism, especially by switching its profile from an agricultural country into an industrial one, by emulating the Soviet models of industrialization.
