TESTING/ MODIFIED BELL SCHEDULE The Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) will be administered during the week of March 11-15th. All sophomores will be taking the OGT and are expected to be in attendance. Tests will be administered in the following order: Monday/Reading, Tuesday/Math, Wednesday/Writing, Thursday/Science and Friday/Social Studies. Testing will take place the first 2 ½ hours of each day.

Upperclassmen still needing section/s of the OGT should also plan to be in attendance on the appropriate day.

A practice OGT will be given to all freshmen during the first 2½ hours of each day, March 11-15th. Freshmen are expected to be in attendance each day.

Students who will be involved in the tests will be given room assignments the week prior to testing.

During OGT week, testing will be administered from 7:39-10:20 each day. The bell schedule below will be followed during OGT week. Upperclassmen not testing may arrive late to school. Students not testing but arriving to school early on test days will need to report to the cafeteria.

REGISTRATION 2013-14 Registration materials will be distributed to students during English classes on February 27th- March 1st. Information will also be posted on the high school page of the Buckeye Valley website (click on “Guidance’). The registration forms will be due in the Guidance Office by March 12th! Late forms will not be accepted.

PANCAKE DAY The Athletic Boosters annual Pancake Day will be held March 2nd at the high school. Pancakes and other delicious food items will be served starting at 7 AM. As always, the event features fun for the whole family including an auction and a -ball tournament. The auction will begin at 11:00 AM and food service will be available until the auction is finished. Mark your calendars! Join the fun!

CINEMA DRIVE On March 1st Buckeye Valley High School, in cooperation with AAA and the Delaware Health Department, will offer the ‘Cinema Drive’ program to juniors. The program will be from approximately 9-11 AM in the auditorium. BVHS will be the first school in Ohio to see the “Cinema Drive” presentation. The program has been very successful in North Carolina and was recently purchased by AAA Ohio. The program uses 3D technology to highlight driving hazards including driving under the influence, texting while driving, fatigue, and peer pressure.

2013 PROM UPDATE The 2013 Prom will be held Saturday, May 4th at the Ohio Wesleyan University Hamilton-Williams Campus Center from 8 PM – Midnight. The theme for this year’s Prom is “A Walk Through Wonderland”!

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY Juniors and seniors with an accumulative 3.5 GPA after the first semester of 2012-13 are eligible to apply for membership in the National Honor Society. The Spring induction for new members is scheduled for March 20th from 6-7 PM. Eligible students will receive information from Mr. Pileski, Honor Society Advisor. Questions regarding GPA’s should be addressed to the Guidance Office.

S.O.S. PRESENTATION On March 18th and 19th, Buckeye Valley’s second semester Health classes will participate in a program, “Signs of Suicide”. The program will be presented by HelpLine of Delaware and Morrow County and coordinated by Jill Mustard, BV school psychologist. Parents who have concerns about the program should call the Guidance Office at (740) 363-4340 before the presentation.

LONDON, PARIS, ROME 2014! Are you interested in traveling to London, Paris and Rome in June of 2014? The trip is open to students and family members of students. Any traveler who registers before February 28th will automatically receive a $100 discount. Travelers will be able to visit iconic landmarks and have an experience of a lifetime!  Fee sheets will be mailed home to parents in January. Questions regarding fees should be directed to Marjorie Harrel at (740) 363-1349 or [email protected]

 Attendance for second semester exam exemptions begins on January 22nd through the end of the year. You are allowed one excused absence or excused tardy as outlined in the student handbook on pages 2.10-2.11.

 The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) will be administered to interested 10-12th graders on February 26th, periods 1 through 4, in the Baron Hall. Register with Mrs. Hallett in the Guidance Office by February 21st if you are interested in taking the test.

FOR SENIORS:

 Seniors—Names to be printed on the diplomas will be taken from the Power School System as shown on the report cards. Any senior/parent who would like the diploma to be printed differently needs to contact Mrs. Harrel in the Main Office as soon as possible.

 Seniors—If graduation orders have not been placed for cap, gown & tassel from Jostens, please order on-line at www.ohgrad.com or obtain an order form in the BVHS main office. The deadline is April 1st!

 Graduation rehearsal and ceremony are scheduled for June 7th. A “Parent Guide to Graduation” will be mailed home at the end of February. This Guide will include information for parents and seniors to plan for the final months of school. Information can also be found on the BVHS website (click on the ‘Guidance’ on the High School page, then ‘12th Grade Notes’)
