The Duke Of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme is administered more than 16 years in Turkey institutionally. As of the end of 2019, the number of participants that the Award reached has exceeded 17,000. We would like to thank all of our volunteers who contributed to the deliver the Award. In 2019, we signed Sub-Licenses with 26 new Award Centres. Since the total number of the Award Centres which signed the Sub-License Agreement is 124, this means that it was a successful year. During the same period, 86 Award Leaders and 86 Supervisors received trainings. While there were 284 active Award Leaders and 165 Supervisors in the Programme at the end of 2018, we have 370 active Award Leaders and 251 active Supervisors as of December 2019. Although the number of volunteers increased significantly, the number of participants did not increase at the same rate unfortunately. I think that we should brainstorm with the National Committee, the National Office, Award Centres, Award 5 National Committee President’s Message Coordinators, Award Leaders and Supervisors about the causes of this and we should definitely find a way to deliver the Award Programme to more young people. I believe that we will succeed in this with the support of our valuable volunteers. We owe gratitude to AKFEN Holding and it’s Chairman, Honourable Hamdi AKIN and through himself the AKIN Family supporting and becoming the main sponsor of the The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Programme - Türkiye, from the first day until it became a fruitful tree in Türkiye. We would like to thank our Award Coordinators and valuable managers of our Award Centres and who opened their units to the Award Programme. We are very fortunate to have such precious Award Leaders and Supervisors who play a significant role in delivering the Award to young people. God bless you all. I would like to end my words with a call to all adults who open their can hearts to volunteering: YOUNG PEOPLE ARE WAITING FOR YOUR SERVICE, TIME TO SERVE THEM. With love and respect, Sultan Yılmaz TİKAV Board President The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award-Türkiye National Committee President 6 With the Award, I pushed my limits, I discovered myself and I didn’t stop working.
