ORGANIZATION & PROGRAM BACKGROUND ecoAmerica is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that uses consumer research and strategic partnerships to create large-scale engagement programs that build awareness, understanding and action for climate and sustainability solutions among mainstream Americans. Founded in 2006, we have a core expertise in consumer marketing and focus on building the base for sustainability solutions by connecting them to the core values and day-to-day concerns of Americans. Further information on our organization and programs is available at www.ecoamerica.org. ecoAmerica’s signature campaign, MomentUs, was launched in January 2013 with primary funding from the MacArthur Foundation, ClearPath Foundation and the Linden Trust for Conservation. This new strategic organizing and communications initiative is designed to build a critical mass of institutional , public support, collective action and political will for climate solutions in the United States by using local and regional impacts and preparedness to engage the breadth of the American public in mitigation.

MomentUs leads from behind, fills in strategic gaps, and empowers sector-based American responses to the economic, health, security and moral challenges brought by climate change. It develops and supports a network of trusted leaders and institutions who lead by example and engage others to do the same, leading to a shift in society that will put America on an irrefutable path to clean energy, ultimately leading toward a more sustainable and just future.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Vice President Program Management (VPPM) serves on the executive management team and leads and manages the organization’s outreach and support functions for the MomentUs network. The VPPM oversees a staff of 8 sector directors and support staff. S/he contributes to ecoAmerica success by performing these functions in a timely, professional, effective manner and through contributions to organizational strategy, planning, budgeting, program execution, partnerships and stewardship with MomentUs leaders and organizational partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

MomentUs Network Recruitment

• Work with sector, marketing and management staff to develop and manage Network strategies, plans, and staff to solicit and enroll leaders and institutional partners into the MomentUs Network through direct, peer-to-peer, and partner outreach. • Negotiate specific agreements (MOU’s) with major partners, and then execute those recruitment and engagement plans and activities to support mutual goals. • Be a public spokesperson for ecoAmerica, MomentUs and the sector programs.

MomentUs Program Development & Engagement

• Work with staff, management, and marketing to develop inspiring and empowering programs for each sector including websites, support materials and events, and marketing activities that “activates” them – supporting their ongoing participation in MomentUs. • Develop and oversee the strategies and plans for across all sectors of the MomentUs Network including sector meetings, summits, conferences, and other outreach opportunities.

Organizational Management

• Develop and oversee the strategy, planning, staff and management of the MomentUs Network, including stewardship, faith, higher ed., communities, health, and sectors. • Develop and manage Network metrics/progress reporting, budgeting, management systems, and continuous learning/best practices development and deployment across the department and the network. • Serve as a key senior leader of ecoAmerica and as an executive management team member. • Participate in the overall strategy, planning, thought leadership of ecoAmerica and contribute to organizational planning, management, and outreach activities.

Team Management • Scope, recruit, develop, and manage MomentUs Network Directors and team. • Develop and conduct performance reviews and goal setting for each employee as formally required and on an ongoing basis. • Approve timesheets, vacation requests, expense reports, and make recommendations for promotion and compensation adjustments. • Develop and manage protocols and processes for teams as required to enhance clarity, efficiency, efficacy, and morale.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE SKILL:

• College degree required; advanced degree preferred. • A minimum of 5 years of partnership development and outreach experience. • Excellent leadership skills. 5 years or more experience supervising teams of 5 or more. • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and influence partnerships and senior leaders in other organizations. • Proven success developing and managing public engagement programs or campaigns, including strategy, planning, partnerships, and outcomes measurement. • Masterful written and oral communication skills including proven success in presenting ideas and concepts effectively and persuasively. • Experience developing and managing a budget of $5MM or more. • Demonstrated expertise sourcing, establishing, and managing outside vendors. • Collaborative, outgoing, professional, and innovative approach. • Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities and multiple tasks. Outcomes and deadlines oriented. Excellent attention to detail. Organized and process-oriented. • Ability to deliver high quality work, quickly, in a dynamic organization under time pressure. • Demonstrated success in creating real impact within a networked, cross-organizational environment. • Ability to “lead from behind” and keen understanding and skill in relationship building and stewardship of network-dependent initiatives. • Knowledge of and proficiency with Apple operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Docs, social media, and content management systems. • Commitment to climate and environmental solutions and ecoAmerica’s mission.

ADA SPECIFICATIONS

This position is largely sedentary in nature however one must possess the ability to speak, hear, and write as well as the ability to use a computer and related software programs, and lift up to 20 lbs. Local and/or national travel periodically required.
