Station 5 Where to focus more in the next phase of the ETC planning process with the Toolbox City of Portland Staff Recommendations

As a next step over the summer, our consultant team applied in corridors with different conditions and help will study more closely up to three corridors, identify inform how the tools may be applied on other similar potential improvements and develop Conceptual streets. Selecting these candidates for a closer look to Investment Plans. PBOT staff proposes selecting corridors apply treatments from the Enhanced Transit Toolbox that scored well in the initial technical evaluation and does not necessarily imply that they will the top reflect different street conditions and contexts. This priority project for implementing first. Though it may typological approach will help us learn how tools may be inform future project development and what is feasible in these corridors.

Based on this approach, PBOT staff recommends selecting the following two or three corridors to study more closely to explore applying the toolbox and develop conceptual investment plans (how many will depend upon length, complexity and resources):

Line 72 Killingsworth/82nd Ave, with a focus on 82nd Ave

Line 12 NE Sandy Blvd

Line 6 MLK Jr Blvd/Jantzen Beach (if resources allow)

In addition, we see opportunity to focus on portions of the following candidates through other planning efforts in the near future to develop recommendations for transit and the multi-modal safety and access needs in the corridors:

Line 73 Thru the 122nd Ave Safety and Access Improvement Project planning process

Line 20 Thru an Outer SE Stark Safety and Access planning process

Multiple Lines Key bottlenecks, including in the Central City

All ETC candidate corridors will continue to be evaluated and monitored on an ongoing basis. Station 5 Informing a Regional Transit Strategy and Vision City of Portland Staff Recommendations: Candidate Transit Projects for the regional Transportation Plan 2018 Update
