HURRAY! The Media Club project on DonorsChoose was fully funded this morning! Mr. Mike Edwards and his students are overwhelmed by the generosity of 33 donors who came together in under a week to fund nearly $2,000 in new camera equipment, which will enable the students to film school events throughout the year. Mr. Edwards wrote, "We can't thank you enough for your generosity and support."

Shop this holiday season at Modells with this coupon and help support our JV Basketball team! ASPIRA- Help the homeless this holiday season!!! We are part of a project that will create care packages for the homeless who weren't able to stay at a shelter this winter. All that we ask of you is that you donate some items that will go towards these packages, including: feminine hygienic products, tooth brushes, tooth paste, hats, scarves, hats and lotion. There are going to be boxes in the center west entrance where you can put all the donations. The box will be there until December 20, 2018. Please donate!

Troubleshoot Missing Scores If scores have been released but you can't see yours after signing in, College Board might be unable to match your scores to the information you provided on your answer sheet. For security reasons, they'll ask you to click the Add Score(s) button on your dashboard and provide additional information, an SAT registration number, a Subject Test registration number, or an access code for a PSAT-related assessment.

Providing Personal Info To protect your privacy, College Board needs to ensure the score report is linked to you. If the identifying information in your online account doesn't match the information you provided, try again or enter your access code or registration number to retrieve your scores.

Other Opportunities (not affiliated with BTHS) The College Now STEM Research Academy at City Tech is a two-part program designed to provide high school students with an opportunity to develop strong college level research skills by engaging in authentic science inquiry and research activities. Selected students will be enrolled into a free Spring 2019 pre-college research course. Upon successful completion of the spring course, students will have the opportunity to apply for the 2019 STEM Summer Research Internship. The summer program is FREE to students. College Now covers the cost of tuition, books and supplies. CUNY Model NYC Council Project. In this project, College Now students learn through a hands- on approach how political and policy processes affect them and their communities while developing leadership, research, and public-speaking skills. They work closely with faculty on a piece of legislative agenda. Guided by the faculty, participating students play a central role in learning what is involved in policymaking, political representation and how to support their community. At the conclusion of the training sessions, College Now students come together in the City Council Chamber at City Hall to debate and vote on the legislative agenda they have been working on. If you are a current or former College Now participant see Ms. Ming in room 7S7 for an application. DEADLINE: February 15.

Application for the 2019 Angelo del Toro Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute Open to: 10TH, 11TH and 12TH grade high school students of Hispanic descent Application Deadline: January 11, 2019

Applications for the 2019 Angelo del Toro Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (HYLI) program are now available online ( https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PRHYLI2019 ). The institute begins on January 19th, 2019 and is open to students of Hispanic heritage in grades 10 through 12. The program provides students with the opportunity to learn how a bill is passed in the State Assembly. Students also develop skills in writing and learn debating, as well as leadership skills. The institute culminates in a weekend trip to Albany. Please urge all eligible students to apply for this exceptional program. Applicants must submit a 500-word essay on the topic described below. Frick Forum for High School Students is an after school program that promotes close looking and the free exchange of ideas. Forum members study great works of art from the Frick's permanent collection and special exhibitions. Frick Forum will run from 4:30- 6:00pm on eight selected Fridays from January through May 2019. Cooper Hewitt's Design Scholars is a free program that features hands-on workshops with professional designers, design studio visits, and college tours during the school year. In Spring 2019, the program will feature fashion, graphic, product, and interaction design. The program will take place on Tuesdays from 4:30-6:30pm. Apply now for Cornell University's Exploring Medicine: Health Care Careers and Culture in NYC Application Deadline: December 14, 2018 Event: January 22-May 10, 2019 Contact: Amber Warner/212-746-2273 This hands-on pre-med program offers motivated high school juniors and seniors a chance to explore medical careers while building health care knowledge and skills. Through hospital rotations, meetings with doctors, and attending a Cornell University three-credit course called Engaged Learning for Medical Careers, students will learn how physicians think and where modern medicine is headed. They will experience what it's like to study and work at NewYork Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center by spending two afternoons a week shadowing doctors in areas that may include emergency rooms, a burn center, integrative medicine, maxillofacial surgery, and physical therapy. Monday afternoon discussions will explore medical education, careers, and prep for possible applications to competitive university pre-med programs. Tuition is $4,380 for three credits of study. Columbia Engineering SHAPE 2019!

Columbia's Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science Summer High School Academic Program for Engineers (SHAPE)application for summer 2019 will open to students on December 14, 2018. We want your school to be aware of this opportunity for engineering exposure and enrichment at the high school level, and welcome the chance to meet with you to further discuss this program.

SHAPE is a selective summer program for rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors geared toward local students who have demonstrated an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SHAPE consists of two, three-week summer sessions and students may apply for one or both. Each session offers college-level courses taught by full-time SEAS faculty members in robotics, computer science, electrical, and biomedical engineering, which are complemented by electives and workshops. We have need-based scholarships available and encourage applications from all students.

The Department of Design and Construction's Community Partnerships and STEAM Initiatives has been working closely with the Department of Education and Department of Youth and Community Development to facilitate the Young Engineers Program. The agency's goal is to expose underrepresented youth to Science Technology Engineering Architecture/Art Mathematics (STEAM) professions, as well as increase early learning opportunities for students in the field of engineering by engaging in interactive curricular and extracurricular activities. Through this effort our agency hopes to promote confidence in Math and Science and ensure equal access to information, resources, and communication tools as it relates to STEAM programs/careers.

We are very excited to be able to offer a new opportunity to your school/organization as part of the expansion of the NYC DDC Young Engineer Program. DOE schools and DYCD funded programs are able to apply to participate Program for the Spring 2019 Semester. The selected sites for the Spring will receive the NYC DDC Curriculum "Best of Building the Future", a material kit at no cost for their class as well as the opportunity to attend a 1 days professional development training on the curriculum. If your site/program has previously participated in the NYC DDC STEAM Young Engineer's Program, please note that the NYC DDC STEAM Program Coordinators will no longer provide instruction in the classroom however they will be providing support to the selected sites and instructors/teachers for curriculum delivery.

Polar Science Programs

We want to notify you of two exciting polar science programs currently available to high school students: the Joint Science Education Project (JSEP) to Greenland and the Joint Antarctic School Expedition (JASE) to Antarctica. JSEP and JASE are supported by the National Science Foundation grant to Dartmouth College. Travel, lodging and meals are provided at no cost to selected students. Applications for both programs are due January 31, 2019.

JSEP and JASE are targeted at students who have a passion for learning, strong interest in science and openness to other cultures. Both programs have proven to be life-changing experiences for selected students in previous years. We hope you will assist us in identifying good candidates from your school and encourage them to apply. The two programs offer field-based learning, polar research opportunities and unique cultural experiences!

JOINT SCIENCE EDUCATION PROJECT (JSEP) JSEP is a three-week field experience in Greenland scheduled for summer 2019.Selected students from the U.S., Denmark and Greenland live and work together while exploring current Arctic research and completing their own inquiry-based projects. The program includes two weeks of extensive field experiences near Kangerlussuaq and a final week at Summit Station, the U.S. research facility located at the top of the Greenland ice sheet. For JSEP, you must be in the 11th grade at the time of application.

JOINT ANTARCTIC SCHOOL EXPEDITION (JASE) JASE is a 1-2 week program that takes place in King George Island, Antarctica, scheduled for winter 2019. Students from the United States join a Chilean high school expedition to Escudero Base on King George Island. The program includes visits to international research stations and field sites in Antarctica and to the Chilean Antarctic Institute in the Patagonia region of Chile. For JASE, you must be in the 10th or 11th grade at time of application AND fluent in Spanish.

The Duke Kunshan University Global Recruitment Team

New York University Tisch School of the Arts invites your students to New York City for an immersive and professional summer program in emerging media and the performing and cinematic arts. The Tisch Summer 2019 High School Program is an opportunity for sophomores and juniors (rising juniors and seniors) to earn six college credits and train with our full-time faculty. Students live in Greenwich Village for four weeks as they develop their interests and talents in the arts.

Pantomonium Productions is an non-profit organization that puts on holiday plays for underserved children and families in New York City. These performances in the holiday pantomime tradition are offered at no cost to New York families, many of whom are underserved, or even homeless. This may be their first live theatre experience.

HS Seniors with IEPs: Serve as a Member of the Citywide Council for Special Education Application Deadline: Ongoing Event: Ongoing Contact: Shavonda Guilford Students interested in policy, government, education, or community affairs are encouraged to apply to join the Citywide Council for Special Education (CCSE). The CCSE is an advisory body concerned with the education of students with disabilities. The CCSE is responsible for advising and commenting on the establishment of committees/subcommittees on special education in community school districts. Members also contribute to an annual report on how effectively students with disabilities are served by the Department of Education and make recommendations for improvements. The CCSE must hold at least one public meeting per month during which the public may discuss issues facing students with disabilities. The student member will serve on the committee for one year as a non-voting member. To be eligible, students must be a high school senior with an IEP. All students must apply for this opportunity.

Class of 2020: The Coolidge Scholarship Deadline: January 23, 2019. NYC Open Data Youth Leadership Council NYC Open Data provides free access to more than 2,000 datasets from city agencies. We know that 30,000 users visit our platform on average per week - these are nonprofits, students, advocates, real estate companies, data journalists and others. We'd like to explore how youth could use NYC Open Data and are taking a human centered design approach to figuring out the best engagement approach by spinning up the first ever Youth Leadership Council for NYC Open Data!

• Who is eligible? NYC youth enrolled in NYC high schools, aged 14-21 • How do they engage? Fill out this common application and select "Mayor's Office of Data Analytics" as the Council the youth is interested in • What is the timing? We will accept applications throughout the year on a rolling basis but are hoping to wrap up recruitment by next Friday 11/02 with our first convening in late November / early December (date TBD) with monthly meetings going through June 2019 • What is the commitment? We're asking the youth to commit to joining a 1.5 hour meeting once per month from November/December 2018 - June 2019, with optional opportunities to conduct additional work and research outside of the meetings. Meetings will likely take place in the Financial District of Manhattan but the venue is still being confirmed.
