SALVE REGINA RECESSIONAL HYMN The Salve Regina is better known to most Catholics as the Hail Holy Queen, which we pray at the end of the Rosary. The Latin chant typically concludes Night Prayer, the last prayer of the day. Since this beautiful chant is so familiar to the priests, it has become a custom to sing it at the end of the ordination Mass. It both unites the all the faithful in song and also gives honor to our Lady, Mother of the High Priest Himself.
From the newly ordained…
On this joyful day, we, the newly ordained deacons, offer praise and thanksgiving to God for the gift of our vocation. Please join us in our prayer that we may truly love and serve others in imitation of the Sacred Heart of Christ. We continue to entrust our vocation to and thank Our Blessed Mother whom we ask for ongoing assistance, guidance, and support and to Saint Bede, our patron for his intercession in our discernment.
We offer heartfelt thanks to Cardinal Harvey, today’s Principal Celebrant and Ordaining Bishop.
We also offer our sincere thanks to Father Rector, Canon Philip Gillespie, Fathers John Breen, Peter Verity and John Carlyle and Sister Patricia McDonald for their guidance and example to us.
We also express our gratitude to our Professors, the FMDM Sisters, Staff, Personalè and brother Seminarians here at the Beda for their nurturing and inspiration.
A special word of thanks to all those involved in preparing today’s liturgy: the Master of Ceremonies, sacristans, lectors, acolytes, servers, cantors, photographers and to Edna and Larry Tongco for the beautiful flower arrangements.
We also thank all those who have helped us with their prayers and generous support throughout our journey to the Altar today, especially the bishops, priests and deacons of our dioceses, our superiors, parents, families, friends and benefactors.
We especially remember on this day our comrades: Matthew Bond, Alexander
Chow, Kevin Conmee, Colin Dunne and Maurice Wheelan.
