Historically, Waxwings could only be seen wintering in Britain on the East coast after escaping the worst of the extremely cold winters of continental Europe.

I just wanted to offer a few words of thanks to all the readers of my Hiya Bucks ‘Confessions of a Catsitter’ articles over the years. I've had to stop writing them now due to other commitments, but also because the accompanying Hiya Bucks advert for our cat sitting service brought in so much business that we currently have a full customer base and we've been able to stop advertising altogether for the time being (had I not used most of my article space to write about my own ineptitudes, we'd probably have got even more.) So, I'd thoroughly recommend Hiya Bucks as an advertising tool for local businesses. It's out on its own amongst local magazines in way of interesting and entertaining content, has good door to door distribution, and it's available in local supermarkets too (I once saw a lady chuckling at my article over a cup of coffee in Waitrose, and I told her I'd written it. She gave me a shocked look and turned the other way. This is the way the world works, I think!) Thanks again for reading over the years, and all the best for the future. Chris, Cat Comforts

The issues of climate change, seas in hostile conditions? global warming and phenology (the timing of the seasons) are also affecting flowers, trees, birds, mammals and food chains that will have even more, albeit unknown, consequential effects. My firm belief is that Waxwings will continue to visit Britain spreading their range westwards, and become more regular visitors to parks and gardens which supply their food. As they develop

hiyabucks.com | 13 Amersham’s Mari Akhurst is a true inspiration Living with a changing condition has its challenges but Mari’s motto is “everything happens for a reason” Mari told us: “I really enjoy inspiring others to get involved in Para sport, in particular Para Dressage, and in 2018 I was acting as a mentor for a young para rider. I also enjoy carrying out my role as an Ambassador for Arctic One and was delighted and honoured to have been asked to be an Ambassador for the Douglas Bader Foundation (DBF). Wow, I wasn’t sure we could better 2017 but we certainly have done! Dreams have come true this year and it really does show that perseverance and hard work pays off. None of what I have achieved would have been possible without my amazing support team, my family and all my fantastic sponsors and supporters. Sky has been a complete superstar and our results speak for themselves: • 3rd Winter Para Dressage Gold Championships • Gold Semi Finals 2nd 70% • Hartpury CPEDI3* (1st overall Grade 1, winner of Individual and Freestyle test) with 71%+ and 73%+ • British Dressage Nationals Para Gold Championships 1st National Champion 70%+ Bear has come on leaps and bounds this year and we are so close to that 70%. I am really looking forward to 2019 and getting more experience under our belts and I am sure that our scores will be on the rise. I have had my most successful year to date finishing the year as an International and National champion. I was one of only 12 to achieve the selection criteria for the World Equestrian Games and I beat a Paralympian at my grade for the first time; the first GB rider to do this. I was also awarded a head collar at the British Dressage National convention for winning my class at the Nationals. Despite not being selected onto the World Class programme my team and I will still be campaigning for the 2019 Europeans. I am really looking forward to stepping up another level with both horses and aiming for the 73%+ scores with Sky which we are already so close too!! I am also excited about starting public speaking as an inspirational speaker.”
