She says she likes the school and enjoys the multicultural environment. She is thinking about studying education in college, saying she would want to teach Science and thinks working with younger children would be amazing.

Lia is a very accomplished and diligent athlete. She plays soccer, volleyball at school, as well as club volleyball. Her mother always played volleyball. When Lia and her siblings were growing up, their mom got them interested in the sport and now she loves it. She enjoys the outdoors and often plays soccer with her neigh- bors. To this day, Lia still plays volleyball with her mom.

In soccer, Lia plays Left Mid (Midfielder), a primarily offensive position on the left wing of the field. She says soccer involves much more lower body strength. On the volleyball team her position is libero. Libero is a defensive position with a good deal of responsibility. I am the director of the library, a member of the Palos Park Woman’s Club, Palos Historical Society, and Palos Park Garden Guild I. When I was young, I was in Palos Park Brownies and Girl Scouts.

Cielo and Luna What are your favorite family traditions? Taking family vacations, my mother and I have taken quite a few mother/daughter trips.

Me as a Bitmoji (how I see myself!). What is your favorite family memory? Horse- back riding and spending full days outside at my best friend’s house up the street. We would ride our horses and then play with the cats, dogs, and rabbits at her family’s barn out back. I was a lucky kid, usually surrounded by lots of kittens! meet your Anything you’d like to add? How long have you lived in the neighborhood/why did you move here? 45 years. My father fell in love with this area in the early 1970s. He and my mother instilled in us a passion for nature, so this area was the perfect place to experience the outdoors and learn about the world around us. The reputation of Districts 118 and 230 made the choice for them to move here even easier.

What is your favorite part about living in your neighborhood? The woods and wildlife. Looking out the window and seeing deer and a family of raccoons walk by, all at the same time!
