Italogramma, Vol. 4 (2012) http://italogramma.elte.hu „sul fil di ragno della memoria” Gerardo Guccini INTORNO ALLO SCHIAFFO DI NORINA: UNA FONTE IGNORATA DEL DON PASQUALE DI GAETANO DONIZETTI Verso la fine del settembre del 1842, Donizetti, appena giunto a Parigi, ricevette dal direttore del Théâtre-Italien, l’influentissimo Jules Janin, uno schema di contratto composto di sette articoli. Il documento non faceva menzione al titolo e all’argomento dell’opera, ma specificava che avrebbe dovuto essere un’opera buffa e che i suoi interpreti sareb- bero stati la Grisi, Mario, Lablache e Tamburini. Si trattava di cantanti ben noti al compositore. Il suo sodalizio con Lablache e Tamburini durava da più vent’anni, quello con Giulia Grisi da più di dieci, e solo per il tenore Mario non aveva scritto alcuna parte. È probabile che alla firma del contratto (datato 27 settembre 1842) Donizetti, che era uso riferire il processo compositivo alle qualità vocali e recitative dei cantanti, avesse già individuato un argomento adatto allo straordina- rio ensemble nel Ser Marc’Antonio (1810) di Stefano Pavesi su libretto di Angelo Anelli. Proprio in quel periodo, il 28 agosto 1842, la popo- lare opera buffa era stata infatti ripresa al Kärntnertortheater. Wil- liam Ashbrook, nella fondamentale biografia donizettiana, osserva che “benché Donizetti avesse lasciato Vienna circa due mesi prima di questa riesumazione, quasi certamente sapeva che doveva avere luogo e ciò potrebbe avergli suggerito di usare il libretto di Anelli come pun- to di partenza di una propria opera buffa” (Donizetti. La vita, Torino, EDT/Musica, 1986, p. 247 n.). -

Les fiches pédagogiques - Compositeur GAETANO DONIZETTIhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ses dates : 1797-1848 Sa vie de compositeur : Issu d'une famille pauvre, Gaetano Donizetti est destiné au barreau par son père. Sa rencontre décisive en 1809 avec le maître de chapelle Simone Mayr va dé- terminer sa carrière musicale. Il le fait entrer à l'école de musique de Bergame puis l’envoie à Bologne étudier le contrepoint et la fugue sous la direction du meilleur professeur de l'époque, Stanislao Mattei, également le maître de Rossini (de sept ans l'aîné de Donizetti). Tout en composant, sous la direction de Mattei, des pièces religieuses, Donizetti donne en 1816 son premier opéra, Le Pygmalion. De retour dans sa ville natale, il occupe un poste à l'église de Santa Maria Maggiore. Sa carrière de compositeur d'opéras débute officiellement le 14 novembre 1818 avec la création à Venise d’Enrico di Borgogna. Le jeune compositeur connaît son premier succès en 1822 avec Zoraide di Granata, composé avec l'aide de Mayr. À cette occasion, Donizetti fait montre de l'extrême rapidité qui le caractérisera puisqu'il doit réécrire une bonne partie de la partition quelques jours avant la première, suite au décès de l'une des interprètes. À Rome, il fait la connaissance de Jacopo Ferretti qui lui donne le livret d'un opéra-bouffe, L'ajo nell'imbarazzo, qui obtient un grand succès en 1824 et est considéré comme son premier chef-d'oeuvre dans le genre comique. De 1818 à 1828, Donizetti compose 19 opéras dont plusieurs remportent un réel succès : Elvira, Alfredo le Grande, Olivo e Pasquale, Alahor in Granata, Chiara e Serafino, etc. -

PAOLO BORDOGNA BARITONE One of the most acclaimed artists worldwide for lyric baritone and bass-baritone roles in Rossini, Mozart and the belcanto repertoire. He studied with Roberto Coviello, Katia Ricciarelli and Bianca Maria Casoni at the In- ternational Academy of Desenzano and Alberto Zedda at the Accadamia Rossiniana in Pesaro. Winner of the Caruso Prize and the Bastianini Prize in 2006. Since 2005, Rossini Opera Festival consecrated him as one of the leading interpreters and absolute references of the Pesaro composer. Paolo Bordogna has been guest at ROF singing leading roles in many operas such as La gazzetta, La cambiale di matrimo- nio, La gazza ladra, La scala di seta, Le Nozze di Teti e Peleo, La Cenerentola, Matilde di Shabran, L’occasione fa il ladro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La pietra del paragone.
