SPIRIT 2021 REGATTA: EVENT DETAILS EVENT OVERVIEW: A SIX RACE SERIES AMONGST A PROGRAMME OF VARIED SOCIAL EVENTS EXCLUSIVELY FOR SPIRIT YACHTS WHEN: SATURDAY 14TH AUGUST – SATURDAY 21ST AUGUST 2021 WHERE: ST. Regatta office located upstairs in the marquee at Guernsey Yacht Club Saturday 14th August 6pm – 8pm: Welcome drinks sponsored by Locate Guernsey at Candie Gardens, to include regatta briefing 8am: coffee & croissants in the regatta marquee, followed by briefing at 9am Sunday 15th August Races 1 & 2. First warning signal 10.30am 7pm: Hattiers Rum tasting & BBQ at Guernsey Yacht Club 10.30am: briefing in the regatta marquee Monday 16th August Race 3 (30nm passage race). First warning signal 12.00pm Free evening 8am: coffee & croissants in the marquee, followed by briefing at 9am Race 4. First warning signal 10.30am. Post-racing dockside dark & stormies by Hattiers Rum Tuesday 17th August 3pm: Fun, charity Optimist racing on the yacht pond in front of Guernsey Yacht Club to raise funds for Guernsey Sailing Trust 7pm: Dinner at Guernsey Yacht Club Rest day (no racing, or rescheduled racing if required) Wednesday 18th August 6pm: Sunset drinks and BBQ at The White House Hotel on Herm Island, to include regatta briefing for Race 5 8am: first warning signal for Race 5 (round Guernsey race) Thursday 19th August Free evening 8am: coffee & croissants served in the marquee, followed by briefing at 9am Friday 20th August Race 6. First warning signal 10.30am 7pm: Regatta prize giving dinner at Old Government House hotel Saturday 21st August Regatta office open from 9am, yachts depart RACING The Spirit 2021 Regatta racing schedule has been designed to provide a variety of passage, long inshore, round the cans and windward/leeward courses to suit Spirit yachts of all sizes. Berthing has been reserved in Guernsey Harbour on the ‘walk ashore’ pontoons from 12pm on Saturday 14th August to 12pm on Saturday 21st August. Berthing fees are shown below and further details can be found on the separate entry form. TOP RECOMMENDATIONS: Octopus: a stunning venue on the south side of Havelet Bay in St. Peter Port, offering fantastic views of the Little Russell out towards Herm, Jethou, and Sark. Vibrant atmosphere, outdoor terrace and an international menu including fresh local seafood. Gusto: informal, quintessentially Italian with delicious food and friendly service in the heart of St. Peter Port. Copenhagen Bar & Grill: located on the ground floor of a former Coach House with views of St. Peter Port, Castle Cornet and Havelet Bay from the restaurant and outdoor terrace. Mediterranean food and an extensive cocktail menu. The Slaughterhouse: modern restaurant and bar right on the harbour with views over St. Peter Port and Havelet Bay. Informal with a varied drinks/cocktail menu. Le Nautique: fine dining seafood restaurant with views of St. Peter Port harbour. The Boathouse: low key restaurant located right next to St. Peter Port harbour serving delicious food and drinks all day. The decking at the back is ideal for breakfast or lunch in the sunshine, or dinner overlooking the marina. Reservation for all restaurants is advised to avoid disappointment, especially if the booking is for a large number of people. EXPERIENCE GUERNSEY ACTIVITIES The focal points of the Spirit 2021 Regatta are the racing and socialising with fellow Spirit owners and crew. However, a rest day has been included in the programme to allow entrants to take time out and explore Guernsey and the surrounding islands. TOP RECOMMENDATIONS: - Visit one of the island’s 27 beaches: Petit Port, - Gin tasting at Bella Luce Distillery Moulin Huet Bay, Pembroke Bay and Cobo Bay all come highly recommended - Hauteville House: home to famous French writer Victor Hugo, during his time in exile - Explore the island by walking one of the from France many footpaths along cliff paths, rural lanes and coves - Walk the 400m causeway at low tide to Lihou Island, a small tidal island off the west coast - Watersports: surfing, kayaking, stand up paddle of Guernsey with an official population of boarding and coasteering one person - Take a day trip to Sark or Herm on the ferry.
