Faculty of Science, University of South Bohemia, České Budějovice, Czech Republic. 34 pp. Annotation This study uses cca. 510 bp of mitochondrial 16S rDNA gene for phylogeny of the beetle family Cerambycidae particularly the subfamilies Spondylidinae and Lepturinae using methods of Minimum Evolutin, Maximum Likelihood and Bayesian Analysis. Two included representatives of Dorcasominae cluster with species of the subfamilies Prioninae and Cerambycinae, confirming lack of relations to Lepturinae where still classified by some authors. The subfamily Spondylidinae, lacking reliable morfological apomorphies, is supported as monophyletic, with Spondylis as an ingroup. Our data is inconclusive as to whether Necydalinae should be better clasified as a separate subfamily or as a tribe within Lepturinae. Of the lepturine tribes, Lepturini (including the genera Desmocerus, Grammoptera and Strophiona) and Oxymirini are reasonably supported, whereas Xylosteini does not come out monophyletic in MrBayes. Rhagiini is not retrieved as monophyletic. Position of some isolated genera such as Rhamnusium, Sachalinobia, Caraphia, Centrodera, Teledapus, or Enoploderes, as well as interrelations of higher taxa within Lepturinae, remain uncertain. Munis Entomology & Zoology, 6 (2): 663-672] ABSTRACT: The type series of Apatophysis (Angustephysis) richteri Pic, 1956, Osphranteria lata Pic, 1956 (= O. richteri Heyrovský, 1959), Purpuricenus schauffelei Pic, 1956 and Derolus mauritanicus iranensis Pic, 1956 (= Derolus mauritanicus iranensis Lepesme & Breuning, 1958) (lectotype and paralectotypes designated) are examined and depicted. Apatophysis richteri is regarded as a synonym of A. modica Gahan, 1906. KEY WORDS: Cerambycidae, Iran, Apatophysis, Osphranteria, Purpuricenus, Derolus, new synonymy, lectotype, paralectotypes. During two expeditions to Iran (1954 and 1956) (Richter, 1956, 1961; Roselaar & Aliabadian, 2007) the German zoologist Willi Richter together with Friedrich Schäuffele collected, among others, some interesting beetles belonging to the family Cerambycidae. This material, preserved in the entomological collection of the Staatliches Museum für Naturkunde in Stuttgart (Germany) was entrusted for identification to Stephan Breuning, the well known specialist of Cerambycidae Lamiinae, who submitted a part of the Cerambycinae to Marcel Pic. This is proved by the sentence written by the French specialist M. Pic in a paper where he described five new taxa based on this material ("Cette espèce [Apatophysys richteri n. sp.] et les longicornes suivants m’ont été communiqués par le Dr. Breuning. Les types sont au Musée de Stuttgart ") (Pic, 1956).

    The Lepturine Longhorn Beetles (Cerambycidae: Lepturinae) (The large beetle on the bottom right does not occur in the Pacific Northwest.) of the Pacific Northwest and Other Stories Phil Schapker, M.S. Web version 1.1 April, 2017 Forward to Web Version 1.1 - May, 2017: The current work is a continuation of a chapter from my MS thesis at Oregon State University, completed in Sept. of 2014. Much of this version is copied directly from that document with several additions and corrections to the text, and a number of new photographs. The intitial goal of my thesis was to create a field guide to the PNW lepturines that was useful both to amateur enthusiasts and to scientists in need of a more detailed technical resource. Unfortunately, the work was forshortened due to time constraints for finishing at OSU, and my ultimate pursuit remains a work in progress. After a brief hiatus from active research, I’ve taken back up the effort. The key to genera is largely based on Linsley & Chemsak’s two-part monograph published in 1972 and 1976. It is currently undergoing testing with the intention to incorporate simpler language, a glossary, and photographic aids. I would greatly appreciate any comments, ideas, corrections, or additions. Cerambycidae is a species-rich family of mostly wood-feeding (xylophagous) beetles containing nearly 35 000 known species. The higher-level phylogeny of Cerambycidae has never been robustly reconstructed using molecular phylogenetic data or a comprehensive sample of higher taxa, and its internal relation- ships and evolutionary history remain the subjects of ongoing debate. We reconstructed the higher-level phylogeny of Cerambycidae using phylogenomic data from 522 single copy nuclear genes, generated via anchored hybrid enrichment. Our taxon sample (31 Chrysomeloidea, four outgroup taxa: two Curculionoidea and two Cucujoidea) included exemplars of all families and 23 of 30 subfamilies of Chrysomeloidea (18 of 19 non-chrysomelid Chrysomeloidea), with a focus on the large family Cerambycidae. Our results reveal a monophyletic Cerambycidae s.s. in all but one analysis, and a polyphyletic Cerambycidae s.l.
