WHO has declared the Novel Corona Virus (COVID-19) epidemic as Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) under IHR (International Health Regulation). In this context, Uttarakhand Government has strengthened the surveillance and control measures against the disease. Isolation and Institutional Quarantine facilities are operational in all districts. To combat the pandemic, the Government has operationalized 15 dedicated COVID Hospitals and 89 Health facilities

Public Health Action Taken

 Government has started psychiatric/ mental counselling facility from 104 Helpline service. The citizens who are in need may call at toll-free helpline 104.  To combat the COVID-19 pandemic the government has fast tracked recruitment of doctors, in this context the selection of 107 faculties for medical colleges is in progress.  Government has introduced a new initiative for tele-medicine service through e Sanjeevani OPD (online Portal for tele-consultation). Note  One new Sample was tested Positive on dated 09.05.2020 as per AIIMS Rishikesh Lab report, 11:00PM. The positive patient is from Uttarkashi District. The patient has a travel history from Surat, Gujarat.  As per Health Bulletin dated 08.05.2020 one Positive patient was reported in Haridwar district, however the patient was referred by AIIMS Rishikesh subsequently this case is now recorded under district Dehradun. APPEAL Department of Health and Family Welfare, Uttarakhand appeals to all citizens of the state to follow the advisory for lockdown. All persons who are contacts of Positive cases and people who have come from outside the state must observe mandatory home quarantine as instructed by authorities. They may stay in separate room and not venture outside their house.

Preventive measures

1. All citizens must wear masks whenever venturing outside of their homes.

2. Travelers’ and their family members must ensure strict respiratory and hand hygiene.

3. Hand wash by Soap and water up to 20 second must be followed.
