SITUATION REPORT – 1 Cloud Burst 15 th September, 2012

A. KEY HIGHLIGHTS: • An incident of cloud burst happened in district Rudraprayag around 01:00 AM in the night of 13- 14 September, 2012 majorly affecting 5 villages in Ukhimath Tehsil of the district. • Below table gives a brief of damage and casualties:

Status of roads (14th September, 2012; 1000 hrs)

1. - National Highway is blocked at Badia in district. 2. Rishikesh - National Highway is blocked at Naluna in . 3. Rishikesh - National Highway is blocked at Teen dhara (Tehri) and Bhiri (Rudraprayag). 4. Rishikesh - National Highway is blocked at at Teen dhara (Tehri). 5. Tawaghat - Pangala - Garvadhar motor road in district is blocked. 6. Thal - Munsyari motor road in is blocked at Ratigad. 7. - Devaprayag - Safdarkhal road is blocked. 8. Sakani -Panjia motor road in districtis is blocked. 9. Pajti- Lani -Chandao - Supad motor road in is blocked. 10. Gadul -Sakrol road in Dehradun district is blocked.

B. RESPONSES OF GOVERNMENT/HUMANITARIAN AGENCIES/OTHER STAKEHOLDERS:

Search and Rescue efforts:

• 02 SAR teams of DM Department had reached the site of the incidence at 0430 hrs. • 120 personnel of Army and ITBP are at the site helping in SAR work besides the local police and revenue personnel. • One chopper has already been mobilised for emergency evacuation. • NDRF team is on its way.

Relief camps:

• Relief Camps are being organized. Detailed awaited.

IAG-Uttarakhand efforts:

• IAG-Uttarakhand has initial coordination at local level. A meeting of core group of IAG-UK was organized on 14 th September, 2012 at 12:00 PM to discuss the situation and decide next steps. (minutes of meeting attached.) • 4 local agencies have started collecting information on the situation and damage.
