Cycling Distance: Total 230kms / 144miles, approx. 15-54kms / 9-34 miles/day (Daily cycling about 4 - 6 hours - by moderated speed)

Level of difficulty: During this tour you will cycle only through Puszta-regions as flat as a table. Definite easy cycling on flat terrain and several times on paved bike paths of the River Tisza flood protection dam. Quiet roads, mostly with low traffic, a few times excellent cycle path network. An easy tour for everyone who appreciates comfort and spa pleasures. (Level 1 - easy)

Level of support: Information about the service and luggage van (the “Technical Service”) - The Driver of the back-up van, however, is not just a chauffeur & luggage supplier! The Follower-Van carries your luggage from hotel to hotel and brings some spare-bikes too. For even more safety along the way is the driver of the van equipped with mobile (cell-) phones. The daily biking routes cross again and again the way of the service and luggage van. The van follows the cyclists without coming in sight or disturbing. It has the tools, spare parts and a travel pharmacy, additional bike bags on board. The driver helps to repair the failures with the bikes - he is ready to help for you on the spot. (He is not an "impersonal call centre" in the “misty distance”!) The bus/van transfers of cyclists inserted occasionally in the trips make it possible to overcome roads with heavy traffic or exhausting short-cuts and make it possible a transport to a next city of the tour. During the transfers the Driver of the van carries your bicycles for free in the special bike-transporting trailer.

Description: This special tour combines the miracle of a cycling tour and of the spa-pleasures in one. The bike tour starts at the feet of the world famous Tokaj-Vineyards and it is easily manageable for everyone. Then you follow the River Tisza on its tarmac-covered embankment. You cycle for miles along this unspoilt “riverscape” while seeing and listening to pure nature, one of this region’s jewels.

Daily Program and Services:

Day 1 – ARRIVAL IN BUDAPEST Individual arrival in the capital of Hungary, in Budapest. Overnight stay in our contractual Hotel of Budapest.

Day 2 – The WINE of KINGS – The KING of WINES After breakfast the Tour Manager / driver of the back-up van will welcome you at 8:45 a.m. in the same hotel. (Meeting point: hotel reception) Route briefing, then joint transfer from the hotel in Budapest to Tokaj. Handing over the bikes and information material, then “warm-up”. Here ripens “The Wine of Kings – The King of Wines”. On request, wine tasting (extra, with advance booking and confirmation!). After that, overnight stay in the wine region of Tokaj. (approx. 30 km / 19 miles cycling)

The landscape south of Tokaj is flat. You cross the river and cycle along the embankment. The flora and the fauna create a special flair around the riverscape and nature reserve. Cycling on towards spa-town Tiszaújváros. (approx. 52 km / 32 miles cycling)

Day 4 – MARVELOUS “RIVERSCAPES” You cycle enjoying a beautiful stage again on the Tisza-embankment. Fascinating lowland forests are along our route to the artificial Lake Tisza. You arrive soon in Tiszafüred (Füred = Spa), you will enjoy today a good thermal spa. (approx. 54 km / 34 miles cycling)

Day 5 – RIVER & LAKE TISZA A boat trip awaits you today morning through the branched system of the river (bird sanctuary). You cycle gently on the embankment until you reach Berekfürdö. You have the opportunity to enjoy spa-pleasures again. (approx. 49 km / 31 miles cycling)

Day 6 – The “SHOW MUST GO ON” – CYCLING and BATHING From Szerpe you ride towards the lovely village of Kaba and its spa. Today’s stage ends in the city of Nádudvar, popular place among open-air thermal-bath fans and big game hunters. (approx. 30 km / 19 miles cycling)

Day 7 – RELAXING, CYCLING and SET OUT for BUDAPEST Possible cycling to the potter, master of the black pottery art. The main attraction here above all is the pleasant amber coloured thermal water of the local spa. Free time, bathe, swimming and relaxing. You cycle only 9 miles (15 km) to Püspökladány after the lunch break. Transfer to Budapest. Overnight accommodation in the Hotel of Budapest. (approx. 15 km / 9 miles cycling)

Day 8 – Individual departure after breakfast or exploring Budapest’s, additional night/s. Maybe participate at the 4-hours Budapest City Bike Tour (extra booking, see prices below).

(= on-site tour hotline)  Transportation of cyclists according to the program.  The special VELO-TOURING Service: The holiday includes the services of a tour-manager/driver who follows the group in a back-up van. This service and luggage vehicle accompanies the cyclists discreetly on the daily stages, so in case of technical problems our driver can be called via phone and he will be there to help as soon as possible. (Thus he offers a mobile bike-repair service the quickest roadside assistance without any additional charges in case of bike rental at us). He meets with the cyclists at the pre-agreed points along the way, organises visits en-route and helps with advice if needed.
