In total, there are 29,800 businesses operating in The Marches contributing £12.3 billion per Defence and Security annum to the UK economy. The Marches is a 4th best represented of all Local Enterprise thriving and successful economic area where Partnerships in the country both small and large enterprises provide a variety of high value products and services within the local area, throughout the UK and internationally. The Strategic Economic Plan (SEP) for The Marches identifies key economic growth sectors that will be further developed: Agri-Food 22% of GVA The Marches - Highest employer location quotient in Agri-Tech in 2012 The economic vision for The Marches is of “a strong, diverse and enterprising business base, operating in an exceptional and connected environment, where the transfer of technology and skills foster innovation, investment and economic growth.
