Philemon Alvord worked for Gen. Barnum in Vergennes, Vt., for a few years after his marriage. Later he moved to Waltham, Vt. John Severance, b. Rutland, Vt, Aug. 20, 1824. When a boy of twelve, John Pomeroy Alvord had his right leg amputated above the knee. He was a tailor by trade. His death was due to something similar to hip disease. His widow married again—Rockwell. 643.
