But as a council we still put you - the residents of Cornwall - first, working hard every day to make Cornwall a safe, happy and healthy environment. In a normal year we provide homes for those in need; help educate your children; look af er your parks, beaches and open spaces; keep your streets clean and traf ic moving; help you stay healthy; collect and recycle your waste; and provide care for vulnerable and older people. This year, we have also... More residents are using our services every year, and the costs of delivering those services have increased. At the same time Government funding for Cornwall is reducing. Cornwall Council has delivered around £380 million of ef iciencies and savings in the last 10 years. We’ll need to make further savings of around £60 million over the next four years. We’ll continue to stand up for Cornwall to get its fair share of Government funding.

2% comes from other sources, 29% comes from council tax including investment income 9% comes from the services we charge for, like planning, licensing and parking

42% comes from the Government, but the majority of this can only be used for specific services like schools, housing benefit and 18% comes from public health business rates

By making every penny count, we have managed to keep Cornwall’s council tax one of the lowest in the South West while protecting the vital services our residents rely on. With a growing and ageing population, we will continue to manage our budget carefully.
