R U L E S T O Y O P L A Y B Y :

We stay on our mats. We leave our neighbors in peace. We put up our hands to ask questions. We don’t talk over our teacher or fellow yoga friends. Freeze Dance with your animal If we follow the moves and the rules then we all have YoPlay fun!

W E L C O M E Use your favorite WELCOME song. Today we are talking about Love. What does LOVE mean to you? Whom do you LOVE? What do you LOVE? What does it feel like to be LOVED? What does it feel like to LOVE?

W A R M U P

Begin by telling the kids that we are going to do a lesson about LOVE. Ask the kids to share what LOVE means to them! Do Sufi Rolls as they give you their answers. In pretzel pose, place the hands on the knees and rotate the upper body in large circles. Repeat in the other direction. As the kids give their answers, you can move the body forward and back and lift arms overhead or from side to side.

Heart Mudra: Reach your arms up to the sky with a big breath. With your exhale bring hands down to your heart and shape your hands in the shape of a heart. On your next inhale open up your heart and exhale close your heart shaped hands. Do this 3 times. Now imagine you are breathing in love and breathing out love.

S O N G S

Try this PLAYLIST throughout the class during the warm-up, transitions, massage train and closing the class.

Here are few of my favorite songs from our PLAYLIST; L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole, Give Love by MC and Say Hey by Michael Franti, well they are all GREAT!

Freeze Dance with your animal Y O G A P O S E S Roly Poly: Hold knees, roll up and back on your spine. Do this 3 times.

Mountain/Volcano: Stand tall in mountain pose (standing mountain, peaceful mountain, tall mountain and pointy mountain) then rub your hands together and jump your legs out and your arms out as you say Volcano. You could add, sometimes we have so much love it explodes out of us like lava from a volcano.

Partner Poses Warrior II Pose: Option A - Stand side by side, partner A's left foot, and partner B's right foot are touching while the other feet are forward in warrior 2 pose, both front arms are reaching out while the other hands are holding each other. Option B - Face your partner and partner A front foot and partner B front foot are touching side by side while the other foot has stepped back into Warrior II position. Arms are in Warrior II and front arms can be palm to palm. Then you can take the front arm and rub your heart then take a teeny tiny piece out and send it to your partner. Do the other side.

Reverse Warrior II Pose: Options A - Same feet position as Warrior II Option A, just moving front arms overhead and back reaching to touch each other while the other arms are still touching, this should try to form the look of a heart. Option B - from Warrior II position just move into Reverse or Peaceful Warrior and rub your heart again and then take a teeny tiny piece of it and share it with the world as you move your arm up and back.

Boat Pose: Sit facing your partner. Press the bottoms of your feet together and lift them up and reach for each other's hands.

3 0 - 4 5 M I N U T E L E S S O N P L A N F O R 3 - 9 Y E A R O L D S

P O S E S C O N T I N U E D . . . Heart Pose: Create a shape of a heart with your partner, get creative. Or do it as a Group Pose. Individual Poses Cobra Pose: Lie on your belly, bring hands under shoulders. Lift head and chest leaving hands and feet on the floor. Roll those shoulders back as you open your heart to the world.

Basket Pose: Lie on the belly, reach back and grab feet with your hands. What things do you love can you put in your basket of LOVE?

Fish Pose/Modified: Lie on your back. Roll your shoulders under you. Lift your heart and try to look up and back behind you. You can point your toes and imagine you have fins and imagine what color of fish you are.

Bridge Pose: Lie on your back. Bend your knees. Lift your hips up to the sky.

Happy Cat/Scaredy Cat: On hands and knees, with an inhale, lift back up to the sky for a scaredy cat with a “hiss” and with an exhale, lower belly down, looking up and lifting the heart say “meow”. Repeat. This pose helps to stretch our spines and open our hearts.

Camel Pose: Modified Camel Pose. Sitting on the knees, hands on knees then move your spine by rounding it forward (like your making the hump of a camel) and back. This pose helps to open up the front of our body and lift our heart.

Open Heart: Staff Pose. Sitting in easy pose or legs out long, place hands behind you, fingers pointing back and lift your chest up and out like you are showing off a big beautiful necklace.

Child’s Pose: Sit on knees, fall forward into a ball reaching arms either back at your sides or out in front of you on the floor. This pose helps us to show our bodies how much we love them by helping us to re-charge, renew and reset. After lots of heart opening poses, it’s important to do a calm, peaceful forward bend like child’s pose. Say “If you want a loving press on your back, show me by keeping both hands flat on the mat, if you would not like one, make on hand into a fist.” 2019©YoPlay Yoga For Kids® & Mindful Yoga Breaks® L O V E & H E A R T

P O S E S C O N T I N U E D . . .

Hugs & Kisses: Hug pose is sitting on your sits bones bringing your knees into your chest (balancing like boat pose but with knees into chest) then kisses pose is releasing your legs out and arms out to look like an “X”. This helps strengthen your core and also works on balance. You can get play mindfully with this one and call out "X" and "O" and even mix it up.

G a m e s

Massage Train: Coming into a large group circle. Turn to your right and ask the person in front of you if it is ok to give their back a massage. Then gently massage your partner. The partner thanks the massager and then you turn in the other direction and do the same thing. You can also do back drawing, guiding the students with shapes to draw on their partners back. This is a nice way to show your body how much we love them by accepting a massage to soothe and relax our muscles.

G U I D E D V I S U A L I Z A T I O N

From our massage train turn to face the circle and lie down in a comfortable position. Close your eyes if you would like.

Guided Visualization: Imagine the sun shining down on you. Notice how it makes you feel. Now imagine the light as it shines down on you, lighting up your heart with your favorite color. Imagine the light and color getting bigger and brighter filling up your heart. That light is LOVE. Go through every body part, filling it with love. Say “you are filled with love for yourself.” Now imagine you are so full of love that now you can share it with others. Think of someone you love and shine your color of light and love to them. How do you think that makes them feel? How does it make you feel? Now imagine someone you are not friends with yet or that you might have had a fight with and send them the same colorful light of love. How do you think it makes them feel? How does it make you feel? Say “ You are filled with love for yourself and others.” May you be filled with light and love for yourself and to share with others.

C L O S I N G Come back to a sitting position. Be mindful of how you feel after the quiet time you just gave yourself. Do you feel relaxed? Calm? Quiet?

Heart Mudra and Mantra: Reach your arms up to the sky with a big breath. With your exhale bring hands down to your heart and shape your hands in the shape of a heart. Say the Mantra I AM LOVED. Look through your heart and see someone you love and say YOU ARE LOVED.

Close your Class by saying or singing a goodbye song or namaste.
