The Department works closely with local communities, industry partners and Government to maximise community participation in the arts, sport and recreation and to regulate the liquor, gaming, racing and charity industries. We ensure that the NSW Government’s priorities drive all aspects of our activities. The statutory bodies within the portfolio include Centennial Park and Moore Park Trust, Parramatta Park Trust, several other sport and recreation venue trusts as well as the State’s major arts and cultural institutions: the Art Gallery of NSW, Australian Museum, Historic Houses Trust of NSW, Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, NSW Film and Television Office, State Library of NSW and Sydney Opera House. The Department also works with the Casino, Liquor and Gaming Control Authority, which on 1 July 2008 replaced the NSW Casino Control Authority, the Liquor Administration Board and the Licensing Court of NSW.
