Usted puede utilizar este manual para enseñar a los miembros de los quórumes de presbíteros, maestros y diáconos por separado o de los tres quórumes en conjunto. Al preparar cada una de las lecciones con un espíritu de oración, podrá enseñarles a magnificar sus llamamientos en el Sacerdocio Aarónico y a llegar a ser verdaderamente hijos de Dios (véase D. y C. 84:26–42, y Juan 1:12--13). Este manual contiene 51 lecciones, un total que excede el número que usted podrá enseñar en el año. Con espíritu de oración seleccione aquellas que mejor satisfagan las necesidades de los jóvenes que habrá de enseñar. Algunas lecciones quizás sean más apropiadas para los presbíteros mientras que otras probablemente convengan más a los diáconos o a los maestros. CLAVES PARA A fin de aprovechar al máximo las lecciones de este manual, utilice las siguientes claves EL ÉXITO DE LA para propiciar el éxito en la enseñanza. ENSEÑANZA 1. Concéntrese en el Señor. Usted debe enseñar a los jóvenes para que lleguen a ser verdaderos discípulos de Cristo. No es suficiente enseñarles meramente uno de los deberes del sacerdocio o un principio verdadero, sino que los jóvenes necesitan aprender que esto es lo que el Señor quiere que hagan, como discípulos Suyos, como resultado de su fe y de su amor por Él. 2. Procure tener la influencia del Espíritu. Suplique la ayuda de nuestro Padre Celestial para preparar y presentar cada lección. El Señor nos ha prometido: “...se os dará el Espíritu por la oración de fe; y si no recibís el Espíritu, no enseñaréis” (D. y C. 42:14). El Espíritu se manifestará con mayor poder cuando usted les testifique acerca de Cristo y les enseñe a ser Sus discípulos, haciéndolo por su propia experiencia personal como discípulo del Señor. 3. Incluya al presidente del quórum correspondiente. La responsabilidad del presidente de cada quórum del Sacerdocio Aarónico es enseñar a sus miembros los deberes del sacerdocio (véase D. y C. 107:85--87). Bajo la dirección de usted, el presidente de ese quórum debe ayudar a seleccionar las lecciones que se enseñarán y el orden en que se presentarán. Convendrá asimismo que el secretario del quórum conserve al día un registro de las lecciones que se hayan dado, quizás en un calendario, para evitar repeticiones. 4. Trate a los jóvenes con amor fraternal. Demuestre a cada uno de los jóvenes un amor genuino tanto en la clase como fuera de ella y trate de familiarizarse con sus intereses y problemas personales. 5. Prepárese bien. Estudie cada lección por lo menos unas dos o tres semanas antes de presentarla. Si posterga su preparación hasta el sábado anterior a la fecha de enseñarla, su labor será mucho menos eficaz. Note en particular la sección “Preparación” al principio de cada lección. En los casos en que la lección incluya relatos, léalos varias veces durante su preparación a fin de entenderlos cabalmente y poder presentarlos con eficacia. Cuando lo considere apropiado, utilice el folleto y la tarjeta titulados La fortaleza de la juventud (34285 002 y 34287 002) para realzar sus lecciones. Ayude a los jóvenes para que se familiaricen con las normas que enumera el folleto y exhórteles a que lo lean con frecuencia y lleven a la práctica dichas normas. v SUGERENCIAS Las siguientes sugerencias le ayudarán para que las lecciones sean más interesantes ADICIONALES y eficaces: 1. Utilice las Escrituras. Exhorte a los jóvenes para que cada semana lleven consigo sus libros canónicos a la reunión del sacerdocio. Ponga a su disposición lápices marcadores de color para que usen en cada lección. 2. Ofrézcales oportunidades de participación. Invite a los jóvenes a que respondan sin reparos y a que formulen preguntas. Reconozca la contribución de cada joven alentando así su participación futura. 3. Adapte las lecciones a su ambiente. Utilice métodos didácticos que despierten el interés de los jóvenes que enseña. Observe los acontecimientos y las experiencias que les afecten o que les sean de interés tanto a ellos como a las personas relacionadas con ellos, y que podrían resultar pertinentes a sus lecciones. En ciertas ocasiones quizás vea usted la necesidad de adaptar los casos y ejemplos a sus propias circunstancias culturales. Para ayudar a que los jóvenes aprendan acerca de las palabras de los profetas vivientes, usted podría preparar su propia lección utilizando para ello uno de los discursos de la conferencia general. Si aprovecha las pautas detalladas en la lección 51, podrá desarrollar lecciones que satisfagan las necesidades de los jóvenes de su quórum. Probablemente determinará usted que algunas lecciones contienen demasiado material para una sola clase. En tal caso, escoja lo que más convenga a los jóvenes o presente la lección en más de una ocasión. 4. Utilice las ilustraciones que se incluyen en este manual. Conserve siempre juntas y sin desprender del manual las ilustraciones suministradas, a fin de poder utilizarlas según la lección. Muchas de estas láminas forman parte del Paquete de ilustraciones del evangelio (34730 002), que podrá pedir del centro de distribución local o de la biblioteca de su propio centro de reuniones. Su biblioteca podría contar asimismo con otras láminas adecuadas para realzar las historias referentes a las Escrituras. 5. Utilice tiza y pizarra. Antes de comenzar la clase, considere cuál será la forma más aconsejable de utilizar la pizarra para mejorar su presentación. Cuando use la pizarra, escriba solamente las palabras claves de toda frase extensa. 6. Formule cometidos y verifíquelos. Concluya cada lección con un cometido particular y verifique la acción de los jóvenes al respecto. Exhórteles a cumplir con dicho cometido y pídales que le informen acerca de los resultados obtenidos. 7. Utilice las publicaciones de la Iglesia. La revista Liahona contiene muchas historias y artículos interesantes que podrían ayudarle a enriquecer las lecciones de este manual. Especialmente útiles son los números que incluyen los discursos de las Autoridades Generales de la Iglesia en las conferencias generales. 8. Utilice los volantes. Los volantes que se incluyen al final de algunas de las lecciones serán de provecho para que los jóvenes aprendan y recuerden los principios del evangelio. Cuando sea necesario, haga copias adicionales de dichos volantes. ABSTRACT This study attempts to explain why ALL of South Korean presidents, without exception and notwithstanding their individual major contributions to the process of Korea’s development, have fallen victim to disgraceful downfalls. For the analysis, I employ S.N. Sangmpam’s middle-range theory that establishes a causal link between society-rooted politics and political outcomes. Building on his analytical frameworks that non-Western countries are characterized by over-politicization in politics as a function of social context, I argue that patterned downfalls of all Korean presidents are an institutional outcome of over-politicization in Korean politics, which is itself a function of not fully entrenched capitalist society. In support of my thesis, I test three hypotheses. Hypotheses one and two posit Korea’s tenacious traditional and cultural traits as an internal modifier of capitalism and the nation’s dependent nature of its relationships with the United States and Japan as an external factor that prevented capitalist entrenchment in Korean society.

After a long period of providing schools for its membership in the Intermountain West of the United States, the Latter-day Saints ultimately settled on a system of supplementary religious education, designed to work in concert with public education systems. Skinner, Ph.D. Mitchell B. Lerner, Ph.D. Copyright by Hye-jung Park 2019 Abstract This dissertation examines music in US-Korea relations from 1941 to 1960. Beginning during World War II, the US government disseminated Western classical and American music in Korea. After the war, the United States also gained the confidence of Koreans by supporting Korean traditional music that had been suppressed under Japanese colonial rule. Yet South Koreans were not merely passive recipients of US propaganda. As the Korean War divided Korea into North and South, South Korean officials used music to affirm the anti-Communist alliance between South Korea and the United States. American music spread rapidly in South Korea, contributing to the formation of South Korean identities different from those of the Communist North. By tracing a history of musical relations in the transitional period from the colonial era to the early Cold War, this project emphasizes that US Cold War music propaganda programs were not an entirely new initiative but built on the foundations laid in the 1940s. By demonstrating that a peripheral country used music as a tool for political negotiations with a superpower, this project also expands the horizons of scholarship on music propaganda, which has focused overwhelmingly on US and Soviet interventions in Europe.

Moreover, during the long period of colonial status, Hawaii served as a rallying point for a major segment of the Korean liberation movement. The first generation of Korean immigrants who sustained that movement here are now passing on, and Mr. Gardner's efforts have come at a moment when their experience and efforts can still be appraised on a firsthand basis. It is hoped that the materials presented here will serve as the foundation for a social history of the Koreans in Hawaii.
