Improvement measures for the Wong Chuk Hang Station Public Transport Interchange (PTI) a. Request for the re-provisioning of MTR Corporation, TD According to the discussion in SDC meeting on 14 Jul 2016, we believe the zebra crossing opposite to Nam zebra crossing that the councilors referred was the pedestrian crossing on Long Shan Road Cooked Food Heung Yip Road connecting Nam Long Shan Road Cooked Food Marketing Market and Nam Long Shan Road Sitting-out Area. To facilitate the construction of the South Island Line (East) and to improve the overall traffic in the district, road improvement works are being carried out in phases by MTR Corporation in Wong Chuk Hang. A new footbridge and lifts were constructed to allow separation of the busy pedestrian and road traffic at the junction of Heung Yip Road, Wong Chuk Hang Road and Nam Long Shan Road, providing a safe and comfortable access for pedestrians travelling between the above road sections. Pedestrians can also make use of the pedestrian crossing on Heung Yip Road near Tai Wong Ye Temple to cross Heung Yip Road to travel to Nam Long Shan Road, Welfare Road and Shum Wan Road. In addition, a new pedestrian crossing on Nam Long Shan Road near Little Sisters of the Poor St. Mary’s Home for the Aged was opened for public use on 25 August 2016, which allows pedestrians to travel to and from Heung Yip Road, Welfare Road and Sham Wan Road. MTR Corporation and relevant government departments will continue to monitor the traffic condition at the junction of Heung Yip Road, Wong Chuk Hang Road and Nam Long Shan Road, and appropriate follow up actions will be taken when necessary. 4. LandsD has conveyed the above SWD’s request to MTR Corporation already. As understood, MTR Corporation has furnished the requested information to SWD direct via email in August 2016. Besides, LandsD has not yet received the application for land allocation from SWD so far. LandsD will process the application concerned upon receipt in accordance with the established procedure. 4 Relevant Government Follow-up Items Departments / Status Institutions 13. Request to add a cover between Lei MTR Corporation As the proposal of additional cover involves complex land and legal issues, Tung Station Exit B and Lei Tung MTR Corporation considered it not desirable to make any design changes at this Commercial Centre stage, in order not to cause impact on the target opening of the SIL(E) at the end of 2016. It is suggested to follow up on the matter after the commissioning of SIL(E). 14. Enquiry on the introduction of an MTR Corporation, TD [MTR Corporation] To facilitate road reinstatement works for Lei Tung Estate additional bus route at the former Road, a temporary traffic management scheme is being implemented in stages bus terminus at Lei Tung Estate until the third to fourth quarters of 2016.
