During the weekend of 21 and 22 January, the Belgian championships were held in Bastogne, Wallonia. There were two regional clubs who had took on the organization of this event. The location was the market hall where were normally cattle is traded.

  • The Digital Soil Map of the World
THE DIGITAL SOIL MAP OF THE WORLD FOOD AND AGRICULTURE ORGANIZATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS Version 3.6, completed January 2003 (C) FAO/UNESCO, 1995 All rights reserved worldwide. Background The present version (3.6) of the digitized Soil Map of the World has been cleaned of errors both in the database and in the lines constituting the digitized map itself. The original map sheets covering the Americas are in bipolar oblique conformal projection. The other sheets, covering Europe, Africa, Asia and Australasia, are based on the Miller oblated stereographic projection; a system consisting of three conformal projections centred on each continent, joined together in a continuous fashion by so-called "fill-in" projections. This allows a complete angular continuity between all sheets. The soil map was prepared using the topographic map series of the American Geographical Society of New York as a base at a nominal scale of 1:5 000 000. The base map comprises sixteen sheets; for the purpose of the Soil Map of the World the information has been redistributed over eighteen sheets in order to obtain sheets of equal size. A nineteenth sheet contains the legend. The digital database is in the Geographic projection. All maps were intersected with a template containing water related features (coastlines, lakes, islands, glaciers and double-lined rivers). This layer was superimposed on the soil map (the information is represented in the FAOSOIL item as: inland WATer, and GLaciers). The Soil Map of the World except for Africa was intersected with the Country Boundaries map from the World Data Bank II (with country boundaries updated to January 1994 at 1:3 000 000 scale), obtained from the US Government.

Small Poultry Enterprise Management Michael J. Darre, Ph.D. P.A.S (retired) Department of Animal Science University of Connecticut Updated – 2019 by Michael Pennington-Martel (CPA Secretary, [email protected]) Mention Dr. Darre and his legacy, and slightly updated by me. Mention www.ctpoultry.org. Mention the difference between Dr. Darre and myself, an old school chicken guy vs a newer backyard type chicken person. http://web.uconn.edu/poultry/poultrypages/ Some links may be broken now that Dr. Darre has left, but many still work. If they have any issues, let me know. Some things are now on the www.ctpoultry.org page. 2 What does rearing a small poultry flock involve? Physiology Nutrition Genetics Health Food Safety - HACCP Engineering Economics Behavior Management Other . Just some of the subjects we will also be studying. How many folks already have chickens? Anyone over 50 birds? Choosing a breed If getting birds for New England, look for cold hearty birds. Many of the birds I’m going to show are available here. 4 Some Examples of breeds for Pastured Laying Hens 5 Cochin Polish Barred Plymouth Rock Black Australorp Light Brahma More breeds. Received: 9 April 2014; in revised form: 3 June 2014 / Accepted: 4 June 2014 / Published: 20 June 2014 Simple Summary: Data on animal health and welfare and farm management during rearing and laying periods were collected from 49 flocks of organic laying hens in the Netherlands to establish how farms performed in terms of animal health and welfare and which factors affected health and welfare. Abstract: From 2007–2008, data on animal health and welfare and farm management during rearing and laying periods were collected from 49 flocks of organic laying hens in the Netherlands. Our aim was to investigate how organic egg farms performed in terms of animal health and welfare and which farm factors affected this performance. The flocks in our study were kept on farms with 34 to 25,000 hens (average 9,300 hens). Seventy-one percent of the flocks consisted of ‘silver hybrids’: white hens that lay brown eggs. Fifty-five percent of the flocks were kept in floor-based housing and 45% of the flocks in aviaries. No relation was found between the amount of time spent outdoors during the laying period and mortality at 60 weeks.
