The firm of Emile Beyer is under the guidance of Christian Beyer, who represents the 14th generation of the Beyer Family of wine growers in the charming village of Eguisheim, the birthplace and very heart of Alsace wine production. Located just outside of Colmar, Eguisheim was the birthplace of viticulture in Alsace and is a village dear to the hearts of wine lovers. The region is a mosaic composed of chalky marl, sandstone and clay in varying proportions from one plot to the next. The vineyards benefit from the wealth of these diverse terroirs, which combined with the unique microclimate, enables the vine to reach its highest potential. The experience that Emile Beyer has acquired over generations enables the domaine to classify its wines by the grape varietal and also by quality, according to the location of the vines. Each different category must meet the domaine’s rigorous quality standards and expectations in order to bear the Emile Beyer label. Today both modern and traditional techniques are used to produce wines of great character and finesse.     Abbé Laurent ZIND Curé de Gueberschwihr de 1956 à 1983 HISTOIRE DE LA COMMUNE ET DE LA PAROISSE DE GUEBERSCHWIHR Avec la collaboration de Bernadette BURN, Jacques EHRHART, Francis GUETH et Gilles SCHMIDT EDITIONS ALSATIA COLMAR @ 1989 by EDITIONS ALSATIA COLMAR Tous droits de reproduction et de traductions réservés pour tous pays, y compris l'URSS. AVERTISSEMENT M. l'Abbé Laurent ZIND, curé de Gueberschwihr de 1956 à 1983, date de sa retraite, a travaillé pendant plus d'un quart de siècle à rassembler patiemment les matériaux de son « Histoire de la commune et de la paroisse de Gueberschwihr », suivant en cela les conseils de Mgr Médard BARTH, qui lui écrivit un jour que cette « histoire » serait le plus beau monument qu'il puisse laisser à ses ouailles. L'essentiel du travail était achevé au moment du départ du Curé ZIND, et une première version dactylographiée de son manuscrit avait été établie. Malheureusement, un grave accident de santé empêcha l'auteur d'établir la ver- sion définitive du texte à confier à l'imprimeur, d'en corriger les épreuves et d'en choi- sir le format, la reliure, les illustrations, etc. Ce travail de mise en forme fut assuré par M. Francis GUETH, conservateur de la Bibliothèque de la Ville de COLMAR, et par Mme Bernadette SCHMIDT-BURN, professeur à Paris et son mari, M. Gilles SCHMIDT. Qu'ils soient vivement remerciés de cette aide précieuse, qui a permis de mener le livre jusqu'à sa parution. M. le Curé ZIND a consacré plus de la moitié de sa vie sacerdotale, soit 27 années, à notre paroisse et l'a marquée pendant cette période de sa forte personnalité.

    DOMAINE EMILE BEYER GEWÜRZTRAMINER GRAND CRU «PFERSIGBERG» Emile Beyer is a family estate located in the heart of the Alsace wine region. The firm of Emile Beyer is under the guidance of Christian Beyer, who represents the 14th generation of the Beyer Family of wine growers in the charming village of Eguisheim, the birthplace and very heart of Alsace wine production. Located just outside of Colmar, Eguisheim was the birthplace of viticulture in Alsace and is a village dear to the hearts of wine lovers. The region is a mosaic composed of chalky marl, sandstone and clay in varying proportions from one plot to the next. The vineyards benefit from the wealth of these diverse terroirs, which combined with the unique microclimate, enables the vine to reach its highest potential. The experience that Emile Beyer has acquired over generations enables the domaine to classify its wines by the grape varietal and also by quality, according to the location of the vines. Each different category must meet the domaine’s rigorous quality standards and expectations in order to bear the Emile Beyer label. Today both modern and traditional techniques are used to produce wines of great character and finesse. The primary purpose of the Infan­ try is to close with the enemy in hand-to-hand fighting. On the side of a house, tommy gunners of this Infantry patrol, 1st Special Service Froce Patrol, one of the many patrols that made possible the present offensive in Italy by feeling out the enemy and discovering his defensive strength, fire from the window of an adjoining building to blast Nazis out.     Great Wines of Alsace A STORY he Rieflé family is deeply rooted in the history andculture of the Rhine. The domaine’s identity is inspired by the spirit of its beautiful winemaker’s house T which was built in PFAFFENHEIM in 1609. It sits next to a magnificent church with a 13th century choir. More recently, the take-over of Seppi Landmann’s vineyard, a truculent winemaker established in Soultzmatt, enhanced our variety of terroirs with the addition of several appellations such as Alsace Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé, Alsace Vallée Noble. AN IDEA e strive to satisfy our customers throughout the world by producing Alsace wines that reflect the originality of their terroirs. This philosophy W allows us to respect the identity of each of our two signatures. One of the ways to fulfill this promise isdriving the entire vineyard in organic farming since 10 years. TERROIRS ur vineyard, with a total area of 23 ha (57 acres), covers more than 80 plots spread over Pfaffenheim Rouffach, Soultzmatt and Westhalten in the AOP OAlsace, Alsace Côte de Rouffach, Alsace Vallée Noble, several single — 1er Crus Vineyards and in two Grands Crus: Zinnkoepflé and Steinert. We take car of the plots of vines individually according to their unique characteristics in order to strengthen the connection between the terroir and the wine it produces. This connection, signature of a great wine, is favoured by the adoption of so- called soil conservation techniques. Instead plowing, maintaining permanent cover composed of specific plants (rye, pea, vetch, radish...), allows the soil to become autonomous in term of amendments (neither chemical nor organic fertilizers are used).
