Presentation Greek Economic Forum A Modern Greece 11-15 May 2015 Under the auspices of the Greek Ministry In collaboration with Harvard University of Economy, Infrastructure, Marine and Tourism www.greekeconomicforum.org What the Greek Economic Forum is The Greek Economic Forum (GEF) was created by a group of young people who wanted to take action, as a response to austerity policy in Greece and on the international stage. The Greek Economic Forum (GEF) is an independent think tank which engages in economics, policy and lobbying, as well as events and initiatives across the globe. As it is defined conceptually, the Greek Economic Forum, is a synthesis of solutions, knowledge and positions for tomorrow's Greece. www.greekeconomicforum.org Our vision From the outset, we wanted to create a healthy network that might favor our home nation. In this way we hope to find solutions and make serious proposals to address the problems facing our country and thus contribute to its development. Our desire is to see our home nation involved in international affairs for positive reasons through innovation and development projects. The main objective of the forum was to examine how Greece can move forward towards growth, thus overcoming the socio-economic consequences of the crisis - with the participation of Greek officials, entrepreneurs and representatives from various economy sectors and organizations. The conference was chaired by Evangelos Angelatos and began with the speech of Antonios Pittaras. www.greekeconomicforum.org Greek Economic Forum Athens 2013 The main speakers were 1. The main speakers were: 1) Mr Georgios Chatzimarkakis, Member of the European Parliament. 2) Mr Michael Haliassos, Director of the Center for Financial Studies (CFS) and the Center of Excellence SAFE, Professor of the CFS research area Household Finance at Goethe University Frankfurt, advisor to the European Central Bank. 3) Mr Pavlos Yeroulanos, Former Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Hellenic Republic. 4) Ms Katerina Panagopoulos, Ambassador of Greece to the Council of Europe on Sport, Tolerance and Fair Play. 5) Mr Alexander Kassandrinos, International Attorney at Law Athens- Frankfurt am Mai 6) Ms May Zanni, Deputy International Secretary of Nea Demokratia. 7) Ms Elena Kountoura, Member of the Hellenic Parliament www.greekeconomicforum.org Greek Economic Forum Brussels 2014 During the forum, there was virtual communication with Noam Chomsky, American philosopher- Professor in MIT. Georgios Pagoulatos, Professor of European Politics and Economy at the Department of International & European Economic Studies, Athens University of Economics & Business. Fokion Egolfopoulos, Professor in the Engineering department at University of Southern California. This will be discussed between 11 and 15 May at the Greek Economic Forum at Harvard, in Boston, USA. «A Modern Greece» Nowadays, in a rapidly evolving word, Greece is required to exceed herself, to become a developed country, with a stable economy going forward. It's the time to show a new growth plan and reform and a roadmap for a powerful and self-suficient Greece. In Memoriam: Wilfried Martens On 9 October, Wilfried Martens, President of the Centre for European Studies (CES) and long-standing President of the European People’s Party (EPP), passed away at the age of 77. President Martens was a strong believer and promoter of political foundations, which he considered instrumental in advancing European integration and cooperation. Inspired by the role national foundations had played in their respective countries, he took an active role in founding the first centre-right political foundation at European level, the CES. President Martens was deeply committed and engaged in CES activities, not only as a strategic leader, but also as an inspirational speaker and author. His passion for the European project is evident in his autobiography Europe: I Struggle, I Overcome which offers the inside story on the intricacies of European politics, but above all its guiding ideas, values and principles.

It also presents and scrutinises the electoral lists of the Member States from a gender perspective and presents the synthesis of the main findings from the lists.
