FLAGSHIP EVENTS 10th Transatlantic Think Tank Conference 15 JUL. - 17 JUL.

Although we didn’t know what to expect from the first online Transatlantic Think Tank Conference, it proved an invaluable opportunity to take stock of the impressions and expectations on either side of the Atlantic in the build-up to the US presidential election in November. The discussion also covered aspects of trade, economics, and geopolitics, providing a com- plete TTTC experience. 22 23

In 2020 the Martens Centre continued to strengthen its network of like-minded or- ganisations, which now includes 34 member foundations and 17 official partners from all over Europe and beyond. In cooperation with many of its member foundations and partners, the Martens Centre adapted to this year’s unique circumstances and organised over 50 successful events, both digitally and across the continent and beyond. 2020 also saw the publication of a large number of PROJECTS — PROJECTS common publications. The Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies (formerly the Centre for European Studies) was established in 2007 as the political foundation and official think tank of the EPP. lt embodies a pan-European mindset based on centre–right, Christian Democrat, con- servative and like-minded political values and research. It serves as a framework for na- tional political foundations linked to member parties of the EPP. The Martens Centre helps prepare EPP pro- grammes and policy documents. It organises seminars and training on EU policies and on the process of European integration. The Centre also contributes to formulating EU and national public policies. It produces research papers and books, policy briefs and the twice-yearly European View journal. Its research activities are divided into six clus- ters: party structures and EU institutions, eco- nomic and social policies, EU foreign policy, environment and energy, values and religion, and new societal challenges. Through its pa- pers, publication launches, conferences and online activities, the Martens Centre offers a platform for discussion among experts, politi- cians, policymakers and the European public. At the beginning of 2014, the Centre was renamed in honour of its late president and founder, Wilfried Martens, the EPP’s long- standing president and a former prime minis- ter of Belgium.
