Celebration of Baptism Ezra Michael Erickson, Baker Pal Nelson

Apostles’ Creed I believe in God, the Father almighty, Creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell. On the third day He rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

First Lesson: Ephesians 4:15 (NIV) 15 Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ.

Second Lesson: Romans 15:14-16 (NIV) 14 I myself am convinced, my brothers and sisters, that you yourselves are full of goodness, filled with knowledge and competent to instruct one another. 15 Yet I have written you quite boldly on some points to remind you of them again, because of the grace God gave me 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles. He gave me the priestly duty of proclaiming the gospel of God, so that the Gentiles might become an offering acceptable to God, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

VERSE 2 Oh, lead us, Lord, that we may lead the wand’ring truths which You impart; and wing our words, that we may feed Your hung’ring ones with manna sweet. VERSE 3 Oh, teach us, Lord, that we may teach the precious truths which You impart; and wing our words, that they may reach the hidden depths of many-a heart. VERSE 4 Oh, fill us with Your fullness, Lord, until our very heartso’erflow in kindling thought and glowing word, Your love to tell, Your praise to show. LBW #403. Text: Frances R. Havergal, 1836-1879. Tune: Robert Schumann, 1810-1856.
